Infinite Grey - Caran D'ache

I'm huge fan of Caran d'Ache. Because their products are quite expensive, I only have old Ecridor Retro whish is amazing writer. Their ink series Colors of the Earth was amazing. However i was discontinued and replaced by Chromatics series.

I guess they started to think they should get something fancier and more stylish than Edelstein and Iroshizuku. And they've succeeded. I love the look of new bottle.

As I'm finishing comparison of 20 greys I needed to get CdA one and I did. Infinite Grey is nice. I don't really like greys - I don't have a single bottle of this color. However somehow I've managed to get quite a lot of samples - Infinite Grey was among them. It's quite nice - it has some greenish tones that I like.

Oooo, this has my name all over it.

Kobe 46 and Blue Merle are two of my favourite sketching inks and this looks like a close cousin.

Love, love, love the way it darkens at the edges when splattered !

I own their Magnetic Blue which is a beautiful ink and although expensive has a permenant place in my Custom 91 F nib.

I'll start saving up for a bottle of this right away.

Thanks again.

I actually like this grey, was not on my radar, but I think I may have to do some saving for it.

Thanks, starting to slip into grays.

Thanks for your review! I was already trying to decide whether to consider this gray, but now I know that I will have to. ^^

A dwarf’s unfailing capacity to believe what he prefers to be true rather than what the evidence shows to be likely and possible has always astounded me. This is really nice! The green undertone is most striking.

It goes down on the page really green (which I don't like) but then dries to a fairly neutral colour. Not my favourite grey but a decent one that I like and which is near the top of the list when I do feel like grey.

Thanks for the great review and the 1.9mm sample is wow!

I am no longer very active on FPN but feel free to message me. Or send me a postal letter!

My sample of this ink does not look anything like what I see in these "posts." The ink is so "light" it almost seems that I need to get a flashlight to read it! Leuchtturm1917 "notebook. Unless I learn that I am doing something wrong, THIS IS NOT AN INK FOR THIS POOR HOME BOY! C. S.

Great review, as usual; boring ink, reminds me of watered down black Quink: big no no.

Infinite Grey has grown on me. Colorwise it's close to idea of perfect grey ink. It's not really grey, it's quite rich and can give varius resuklts on different papers. On the other hand it's very expensive ink but it's properties are only good, but not great. It washes almost completely away when faced with water resistance test. Feathering is non-existent which is cool. The flow is ok and the lubrication is average.

In summary I enjoy the color but I don't think this ink is really worth the money you need to pay for it. If I could get a bottle for, say, 60% of the MSRP I would do it right now. As I can't I'll need to find something else once I run off the generous sample (close to 10 ml) I received some time ago.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
