New Pen For Myself

Recommended Posts

Here is my latest pen I made. I'm 99% sure that it will be mine and not get sold :D . I'm not sure why, but the crazier the colors on a blank, the more I like it.

This pen is 6 1/4" long

7 1/2" long posted

pen body itself is 5 3/8" long

threads are 14 x .75 and I put waaayyy too many on (takes 8 turns to put the cap on)

Medium #6 Bock Nib

You can't see it in the picture but I also threaded this for a K6 converter and I think that might be my new favorite. Once the converter is screwed on.... its really on there. So no worries about ink leaks.

Questions and comments always welcome.

Jeff.

I was just preparing to make a comment on your pen, then I took a real good look. Then I reread the specs. I don't think it needs a two-tone nib. That's the only criticism I have. If I had read the color description I may have shrugged. Fashion isn't my forte. But that doesn't matter. Your pen obviously wasn't made to hide or blend in. But those colors, in that blank, work together. I fully understand youur reasoning for not trying to sell it, however it may very well sell itself. The more I look at it the more I think it may be my next pen.

Yes, this is gorgeous ... I think the 2-tone nib serves to tie the chrome clip in with the rest of the design (as the blank contains gold but no silver). A gold nib would go well with the blank, but then the clip would be hanging out on its own.

The K6 converter sounds interesting -- what tap is needed? And is it still possible to use regular ink cartridges in the section that's threaded that way?

I really like the pen and articulately the blank. It looks like you could turn off some of the threads if you feel that's an issue (Hard to be sure with just a picture!)

Like Duncan, I'd also like to know more about the convertors.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. The k6 converter takes a 7.5 X .75 tap. Regular cartridges still fit... although sloppily. I think if I knew someone was going to want to use both the converter and cartridge I would make a stepped hole (so the cartridges could still have some measure of friction fit) or just design the pen for a standard cartridge/converter. I got the converters from richard binder and they do cost a little extra but I can't say enough about how much better the fit is than a regular friction converter.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
