Really, a true fine? I was hoping for a warerman fine (phileas(not kultur, they are finer) & apostrophe fine)

A waterman fine is finer than a parker fine, what are you comparing it to?

Hi Lisa. To answer your question, I am comparing it to a Cross Century II in F, a Pelikan F, a Mont Blanc Meisterstuck F, an Aurora F, and an Aikin Lambert EF. My Waterman Harmonie is just a bit wider than the Aikin Lambert and more noticeably finer than the other pens, some which I feel are a tad wide (especially the Pelikan) for an F nib. It is about the same or perhaps slightly more fine than the Aurora. It works beautifully on newsprint, but I don't often write on that. smile.gif

Thanks so much.

Now if someone could only compare the Aurora to a Phileas I'd know if I should get a fine or medium.

Just thought I'd add my $0.02 to the topic.

I love my Harmonie. It's a great writer, a little toothy but a great pen. For those of you inquiring, the Waterman fine line is thin. It is thinner than most other fines, but not as fine as a Japanese pen like Namiki's.

The spectrum of fine nibs in my humble opinion

THICK - - - - > THIN

Lamy -> Pelikan -> Cross = Parker -> Waterman = Aurora -> Namiki

Thanks.

It's true, my parker fines are broader than my waterman fines, and I'm talking Phileas and Apostrophe here. The Kultur is ever finer.

Early impression about the beige Harmonie F and clearing up the confusion about linewidth and tooth of the F nib.

The linewidth of the Harmonie F is very close to that of the Phileas F. I've tried it with waterman havana brown and the phileas with waterman blue and it looks like the Phileas is just a slightly bit wider, but that could be due to the fact that it seems to write a bit wetter, but that could be just the difference in ink too. Still, when comparing strokes horizontally and vertically I couldn't make out for sure which one was wider.

(Note! I'm talking about the Phileas F, NOT the Kultur! My Kultur has a line twice as thin and is rather scratchy. From what I've read this is the case with more Kulturs, not just mine.)

The tiniest bit of tooth spoken of is just that, the tiniest bit a tooth, less than the Phileas!

The color IRL of the Beige model is a bit greenisch/champagne. Not yellowisch/champagne like the pictures online would suggest. This finish has a more modern look than the brown and red chequered ones, those have a more classic look IMO. No matter what finish, I find these pens very elegant looking!

The stainless steel nib would have looked better if they'd given it a silver plating. Which is not too much to ask seeing that the other finishes have gold plating.

The way I check if the ink flow is OK with new pens is to use a cartridge or fill the converter from the bottle. If you dip in the nib while filling you'll always get a wetter flow at start because there's more ink in the feed. By filling the converter from the bottle you won't experiance this. So this to me seems the best way to test the flow to me. The flow of this pen is very good.

Maybe I'll write a full review on it later when I've used it some more, most of what I've just written will be repeated but all a bit more structured. smile.gif

Yeah well. I've just got my Diamine Aqua Blue(I LOVE IT biggrin.gif) and a converter. It seems to me that it writes a LOT smoother with this diamine than with the Florida Blue. Florida Blue always seems to dry purple to me anyway. And now the tooth has been reduced to a wee nibble every now and then lol.
