Comparison Of 48 Greens

How obtuse of me! I neglected to ask what your reasons are, colors aside, for your likes/dislikes. I've used Noodlers Hunter Green (very nice saturation and tone) but based on your project, I favor the Penman most.

Spec - freakin - tacular!

I just recently bought my first colored inks, four bottles of Diamine, but my wife asked me why I didn't get any greens. After seeing this, I think a bottle of Kelly Green will be in my next order.

I'm glad that you like it :)

@DaveBJ - Kelly Green has nice color but it tends to blossom on nibs (nib creep in pure form :) ). Not all of them but it can be disturbing when you uncap your favourite pen and see greenish cauliflower on it :)

This is so cool - thank you! I've never used GvFC ink, but I'll be getting a bottle of Moss Green now.

I love the splash part. I'm left with the almost irresistible urge to fling ink all over my walls.

Wonderful collection, and a very helpful review - thank you for all the work that went into this. I am a big fan of blue and green inks.

One question (I am a bit obsessed with showthrough as I must use both sides of paper at work): Do you still have the pages you used in this review? If so, I wonder if we might see the reverse of those pages to get an idea of which inks show through, and which ones less so?

Thanks again!

Thanks for posting this. I want to do a drawing using all these colours of ink now. Feeling inspired.

I've been looking for a green. This is one of the most comprehensive posts I have seen anywhere, let alone on FPN. Thank you seems hollow compared to your efforts, yet it is the most I can say, so thank you.

I find myself most transfixed by Nicpon's Zielony Galusowy. What can you tell us about these Nicpon inks?

Great effort, thank you !!!

Nevertheless, in the very first set I got the feeling the Ebony Green from Private Reserve looked more as Ebony Brown and I missed Avocado Private Reserve, one I use the most...

@swanjun - Nicpon makes amazing inks :) They're highly saturated and behave well in most cases. Zielony galusowy is gall ink, you can check the review here.

@Azuniga - well most of inks from Enony series dry this way on my copy paper, they turn brownish. I'm not sure whether it's dye or something else? I wanted to make Avocado part of the comparison however it's hard to get Private Reserve (not to mention Noodler's) in my country. That's a pity :)

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
