Coloured Inks, What Do You Use Them For?

Pub

Recommended Posts

Apart from Black and Blue, what applications do you use your other coloured inks for?

Do you actually use them for a change no matter what you are doing, or merely for specific things?

I use mainly Blue or Black for everything although I have just bought Ancient Copper and using it a journal at the moment as a change.

I use them for everyday writing!

Currently at work I'm using iroshizuku Tsutsuji - it's far more interesting than black or blue!

It's an ink from this month''s ink drop :-)

I've taken a clue from Neil Gaiman and am using two colours for writing. Makes it easier to see where each days work ends.

I also use red inks to mark errors and things need to be fixed.

So, yes, I use inks for spesific things, not really just because I "feel like it", although when my ink collection grows I'm not adverse to the idea.

When taking notes in class and studying, I use a pen with a brighter ink for highlighting/adding structure. I use blue-black for things that need to be easy on the eyes. I can't cram text written in anything other than blue-black.

For any other kind of writing (except official documents, for which I use the conventional ballpoint pen), I just use whatever color I feel like using.

I have no use for anything else but black and various shades of blue; those can range from very dark to quite light and bright.

I use red for markup, and a selection of lively colours for thank you notes and personal correspondence cards. Current picks now that we're coming into summer include ku-jaku and Diamine Marine :happyberet:

I use whatever I feel like at the moment. No complaints so far, excepting some particularly picky official documents of course.

I presume you mean specifically with fountain pens. I use shading earth tone inks for drawing - it gives the drawings a softer, older look.

But the vast bulk of my colored inks are pigmented, and used with dip pens or brush. Used for washes, they aren't a whole lot different from water colors, albeit of the highly staining and unliftable once dried kind.

Once I get a stub pen, I have little doubt I'll get more colored ink for the pen simply because I like the decorative qualities of different colors.

I colour code my notes at work... Red for tires, Blue for car sales and Purple for repairs

Red for markups; colors to indicate an original vs photocopy or scan; black for almost everything.

I have been drawing in Syrah, Ancient Copper, Sepia for tonality, and have a grey pen with grey ink for shadows.

Nurse's notes are all in black. My journal is blue-black or purple-black, though I expect to move to a sepia or more orangish ink at some point. Or perhaps a nice grey.... I have fun with color selection when writing letters. Or, I could use a different ink for each day of the week in my journal. How many bulletproof shades does Noodler's make? ;)

My wife likes lots of different colors. Writes notes to her friends in small folded/stapled notebooks, and each time the topic changes in the flow, the ink color changes.

Journal - I use black for daily entries. Black swan in Australian roses for the sunrise and sunset times (this years journal theme). Red for Big Events. (Currently Red Dragon) Green for purchases. (Gruene Cactus) Blue (Was Baystate Blue, now Liberty's Elysium, which I want a bottle of) for my 4,000 questions, Today's question: Do you mark in books you read and why? Different colors for the stuff in the back - books I've read, projects completed, etc. I like the look of black with important stuff highlighted.

Tarot journal - a different color every day.

To-Do list - written in black, but checked off in a rainbow of colors.

If I make Christmas Cards this year I will surely sign in colored ink, for the joy of it.

Red ink for edits or special comments. Otherwise, I have a selection of colors which I just use in rotation as the mood fits. Mostly blue, blue-black, black, brown, green.

Being retired, I use what color I wish.

Do stay away from Inky Thoughts, Ink Reviews and Ink Comparisons  .

I normally have some 12-17 pens inked....even though I wish to get down to 5. It just don't happen.

I look in the ink section, over the years I've bought some 50 inks and that is not much compared to some. I do have 15 on my wish list.

I go over to the ink sections....and say, hey that's a nice colored ink.... I have that. :happyberet:

:gaah: I ink a pen. :wallbash:

If you go to Ink Reviews look at Sandy1's reviews. It shows you the difference a nib width on a sheet of paper makes. There are times when you can not believe it's the same ink.

Keep your life simple....just BB ink....after all I'm not into BB at all. B)

Don't know why I have 7 of them. :yikes: All a bit different. B)

Add a bit of spice to your life.

I bought Pelikan 4001 Green on sale....after all, green is sort of a weird color to write with.

A year later I have 11 greens, from murky to light bright. :lticaptd:

I keep tying to get into purples....do you know some folks call violet - purple.

Some folks can not pass the USAF color test. :D

Browns are very nice, I lack....I only have some 5....counting one Sepia....well the other Sepia is not brown at all, but sort of an off gray. Sepia really spreads your color sense. Some fella did 32 of what he calls sepia....ain't but 20 or so....the other 12 could be grouped elsewhere.

But what the hell, got to look at interesting colors.

There are a number of dark toned business colors, not in black or blue. :) Try some.

Hmmm...lets see...

Colored inks bring color into your life. Imagine writing in green, or red, or any color imaginable. It gives personality to your writing.

In a world where there are no eyes the sun would not be light, and in a world where there were no soft skins rocks would not be hard, nor in a world where there were no muscles would they be heavy. Existence is relationship and you're smack in the middle of it.

They also help stimulate my brain and my creative process. Can't imagine not having a rainbow available.

I use colored inks for journaling, drawing, and everyday writing, but not for legal documents (except for blue). Using various colors is fun and can be useful as well.
