Palladium Plate Vs. Chrome Vs. Stainless Steel

Batman

Recommended Posts

I've owned pens with all 3 finishes but I seem to have the most annoyance with palladium plate and was wondering if anyone else had the same issue. Stainless steel and chrome does cause grip problems during the winter months when it is dry but my palladium plated pens just causes me to get sweaty hands in response to the smooth body which attracts fingerprint marks. This has made my Legacy Heritage see little use in my rotation, which is a shame. I'm just curious if anyone else has noticed this and whether this is a result of the chemical properties of Palladium.

Regards,

Brad

I got rid of the first & last chrome pen I bought, it was a finger print trap.

I hear you Bo Bo Olsen. I originally bought "metal" pens for their durability but I would much rather have lacquer or resin over metal pens.

The only metal pen I have is a Parker "51" Flighter, brushed stainless steel. This pen is rugged, reliable, has an XF nib that works on almost every paper I throw at it, works in flight, and still has the lucite grip section on the hood for a comfortable experience. I write with this pen posted for the balance. An amazing piece of engineering (long before the brushed metal look was cool) and a fantastic pen that has never let me down. I'd stick with stainless steel vintage pens.

Hey Buzz thanks for the info. I should probably clarify myself. I have nothing against stainless steel pens, it's palladium plated sections or barrels that I have a problem with and some chrome pens.
