I hate to throw away plastic, so am not generally keen on the cartridge pens. My solution to cartridges is a syringe. Which I use to keep refilling the cartridge with the ink of my choice. However there is nothing even mildly environmentally friendly about the excessive number of pens I have, except, perhaps, that the environmental damage done in their creations happened 80 years ago.

That's part of my reason for collecting vintage pens - I'm not actually purchasing items that were created in my time. I'm not forcing new consumption. Except that every now and then my resolve weakens and I buy a new one. <sigh> I'm not perfect, not by a long shot, but I'm trying.
