Write Samples Of Various Paper Around House/school/etc

I thought that I would put together some write samples of all my inked pens on various papers I've had around the house BEFORE I started getting into fountain pens (meaning the kind of stuff you might buy without thinking bout FP), so most of this is stationery I had for campus prior to having to think about FP friendly paper.

Front and Back scans @ 300 DPI (Resized down to 900 pixels on the wide end)

If you want me to upload/link a full 300 DPI scan of any of these just let me know (may be helpful in nit-picking bleed or feathering on fine/extra-fine nibs).

I also have the following if anyone wants me to add sample:

- Georgia Pacific Super Premium Inkjet Paper (28lb, 97 Brightness)

- Georgia Pacific Standard (20lb, 92 Brightness)

- Office Max Memo Pads

- Top Flight Memo Book

Did you write on both sides of the paper? Some papers are fountain pen friendly on only one side.

Can a calculator understand a cash register?

All the ones above are identical on both sides. What you said applies more to more expensive coated paper only really meant to be used on one side for the presentation (like Epson Premium Matte Photo paper has a coated 'white' side which is horrible for FPs)

No, I have a Paperchase journal book whose pages are lined on both sides, so both sides are meant to be written on. Some pages feather on one side and not on the other.

I guess I should clarify and say that I have written on both sides of everything I mentioned before and *know* it to be identical on both sides, so there was no point in scanning both after I already had the experience of doing so for the last couple months. Since I actually use them all, not just 'assuming'.

Not sure if it's just me, but some or almost every piece of recycled paper I use does not like my fountain pens. The feathering and bleed through is horrendous.

Do you find the 'white side' makes the pen skip or makes feathering a high possibility?

On Epson Premium Matte Photo Paper, it's practically undrawable, not just skip but outright stoppage of the nib for momentment, trying to force it would feel like you're going to damage the nib, it just won't allow movement on the surface from a FP, like you're trying to draw on the side of a rubber ball with high surface friction.

The not-so-white side doesn't have such a high resistance, but it doesn't like taking ink either (but will print just fine in a printer, just not as 'vibrant' as the white side, makes for great business cards though, just write on the back lol), the paper is made for inkjets and I think it's coating was designed to be compatible with both dye based inks and their durabrite pigment inks.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
