mrchan, that was a good idea... actually, I thought of that myself (honestly) since I really liked it but didn't use it at first because I thought (still do) that Sailor's Kobe Stone Gray (their No.31) isn't all that well known and/or often used here. Well, here it is:

Ah yes, very nice. Good comparison. Thanks a lot. So which is your favourite grey amongst all of them?

Fountain pens are like weapons. They just make your pocket bleed so much.

Excellent review of the ink. I already have the ink but the pen is still on its way as I requested a nib width they did not have in stock in UK so the pen has gone back to Hamburg.

 

As to the ink I like it as well but I just have to make sure I do not drop any of it on my shirts. ;)

Lapis that is a great review...it was nice to see how good Lexington gray was as well.

 

In sooner or later my remaining 3 Pelikan '90's cartridges each of Pelikan Gray and Silver Gray will be gone, that new MB Gray will be bought...one bottle of it.

It is a limited edition ink????

The Reality Show is a riveting result of 23% being illiterate, and 60% reading at a 6th grade or lower level.

      Banker's bonuses caused all the inch problems, Metric cures.

Once a bartender, always a bartender.

The cheapest lessons are from those who learned expensive lessons. Ignorance is best for learning expensive lessons.

Oops, sorry I oversaw that question... My faves of those up there are the MB Permanent Grey and Sailor Kobe. My favourite of all the greys I have is, however, Iroshi's fuyu-gaki (Old Man Winter) just because of the very slight, subtle yet understated hue of blue as in clouds about to explode into a snow storm. I like Gray Flannel the least because my eyes tell me that it has way too much green or turquoise in it.

I'm sorry to ask but is this an iron-gall ink or not? Couldn't quite understand it. I'm mostly worried about staining to the ink window.

No, it is not an iron-gall ink, just like the other two MB perms aren't (Blue and Black). I don't see any staining with all three of those MBs in any pens yet used. Don't forget that the Grey -- in contrast to the Blue and Black -- is a LE so buy it now, before it's too late.

Looks an exact copy to my eye. Can anyone with both give us a side by side?

Thanks for the reminder. Actually I did think of that once (yeah, yeah...) but had a more distorted view in mind. That is to say, that the Albert Einstein was much bluer. But... I'd say that my perceptual tendency still held true in the sense that the Permanent Grey has more green and/or brown, whereas the Albert Einstein has more blue and/or red.

Up top, under the 1x-2x-3x swabs, an Herbin glass dip and then an Allegro steel dip.

 

Nonetheless, these two inks are very similar. So, I said it.

Thanks for the heads-up, got two bottles as well as a bottle Leonardo from the friendly assistant in Sandton Boutique. Also an A5 notebook...

 

And I thought just one bottle and I would be a happy man.

You could always do the old saturation to the extreme test!
