Franklin Covey Ink Cartridges

I was referred to this site by the info dept of the Gouletpens company because they couldn't answer this: which cartridges fit the Franklin Covey slim pen, preferably not black ink? Even the store that sold me the pen cannot tell me! Thank you.

You're welcome!

An alternative, particularly if you want a wider choice of inks, is to use a blunted needle & syringe to refill a rinsed out cartridge with ink from a bottle. Then you've got the whole world of fountain pen inks to choose from!

Edited to add: Or there's a converter that would fit, which is essentially a refillable cartridge. http://www.coloradopen.com/product/cross-convertor-for-bottled-ink/cross-fountain-pen-refills

Does these fit the Franklin Covey? I do not have the slim Franklin Covey but mine only takes international cartridges.

Thank you. After looking on several sites I think I'll just have to keep experimenting. I hate black ink--

I understand. No black ink.

Try both refilling the cartridges and purchasing a converter.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I thought the Franklin Covey pens, although made by Cross, do not take the Cross cartridges. I thought they took the international cartridges, but I could be mistaken since it has been a couple of years since I owned one.

I looked at the Franklin Covey webpage: http://franklinplanner.fcorgp.com/store/buy/Pens-and-Pencils/Slim-Fountain-Pen-Ink-Cartridges-6-by-Cross/prod860026/?skuId=42216

They are showing a Cross refill but the page shows Black ink then says color Blue. So they are confused. They show a "picker where you can choose Black (Yes - we know you hate it) Blue or Blue-Black, And the price of their 6 cartridges at $39.95 is 10,000 feet past ridiculous. Maybe they meant 6 packs of ?. One link (pop-up) shows them in a Franklin blister pack of three. I would not be paying them that much. But the "Cross" type is the only one they list. So unless they are really messed up - this should be the one that it uses. An International size cartridge will NOT work if it is a Cross socket.

Any office supply - Office Max, Office Depot, Staples should have Cross cartridges and they are pretty good about opening the package to see if they fit your pen. Keep whatever cartridge you have now in your pen when you got there and that should be easy to match with it in your hand. Maybe even WalMart or Target will have them in their pen area in a blister pack. You may see only Blue -Black, but if they look like the shape and size of what you need just google "Cross fountain pen ink" and you should be deluged with hundreds of on - line links.

Also a Cross convertor like was linked above for Colorado pens will open a literal flood of ink choices. Certainly over 100 if you hunt down all current Mfg's bottles of different ink. You will run out of money to try them before you will ever get bored with choices.

Beware..........This is where the madness begins.............

By the way - Cross buys their ink from Pelikan we are told.

Good luck.

Andsoshedid: What is your Franklin Covey models name?

The Freemont and the Lexington only takes international cartridges.

Thanks--I don't know the name of the pen and threw away the packaging! I"ll have to look it up.

But I have been corresponding with ink sellers on the web and they say the Franklin Covey slim ISN'T compatible with international cartridges.

I'm so confused I'm considering tossing this pen and getting a new one.

What's the easiest pen to find cartridges for--not too expensive?

If you are anywhere near the city head over to Fountain pen Hospital, bring the pen with you, of course, and test out the converters they have.

I'll bet you will find something that fits. Many of the pens listed as not accepting converters (cartridge only), can accept a converter, if you find the right one. It may not be made by the pen manufacturer, however, in most cases that's not a critical issue.

Good luck and keep us posted.

BTW, welcome to FPN. Obviously Goulet pens has introduced you to the best comprehensive online resource for fountain pen information.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
