Meaning Of "f.t.i." In Chalk Marks On Sheaffer's 1000 "dolphin" (Ink It Or Display Only?)

Hello:

I recently purchased a Sheaffer's 1000 "Dolphin" set (fountain pen and pencil in the case). The set seems to be in pristine condition and I cannot find any evidence of use. The chalk marks are still on the pen and pencil, and both include "F.T.I." but I have no idea what that stands for. If anyone can shed some light on this for me, I would be most appreciative. Hopefully, you can see what I'm talking about in the photos.

The harder question for me is "do I ink it up or not"? I am a "user" more than a collector, though I have plenty of pens and I could do just fine without using this one. Plus, I already have a Dolphin 800 in the same color (burgundy) that writes like a dream, so if I'm looking for that "feel" I can get it somewhere else. But part of me still wants to fire it up and carry it around with me. I can justify it by arguing that this is not a super-high-value set.

So, "Ink it" or "display only"?

Thanks to all!
