Don't forget to take my flex pen poll and win a brand new, high performance flex pen!

 

So I was on my quest for the perfect blue when I heard about a vibrant, waterproof, true blue. I jumped at the chance to try it. So far, my favorite pen to use with this ink is a Parker 21, and I just adore it with plain, basic cursive italic. post-101589-0-47686100-1395929915_thumb.jpeg

 

Here are some comparison photos of some comparable blues on a few papers:

 

World's cheapest notebook paper. (I bought 200 sheets of this stuff for about 50¢ in 1998. It actually accepts inks pretty well, so while it's the cheapest paper I've ever bought, and is see-through, I'm beginning to think it's not THAT bad.)

I bought a bottle not long after it was released and although I don't use it much, it's a nice bright ink and I've not had any problems with it is the few pens I've used with it. Great review too!

I highly recommend this ink for a nice vibrant blue with some water-resistance. I've been using this ink for almost 2 years now for work and journaling.

 

Only one caveat, after 3 or 4 fills, I recommend flushing the pen clean with water. This maintenance is true for any pen/ink but more so for this ink.

 

Again, I use this everyday and I have this ink in 9 out of 16 pens currently inked.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Forgot how much I liked this ink -- so much so that I filled a pen with Liberty's Elysium this morning (I have a slight preference for Noodler's Manhattan Blue) and was instantly cheered by its bright color (I like BSB, but that has slight violet undertones to it -- in addition to its staining issues; plus, sometimes I just don't want that much eye-sear on my retinas... :lol:).

I must break out my bottle of BSB next time I need to write to particular bank underlings who are giving me an inappropriately hard time...

A very vibrant and mostly well behaved blue. I have had one issue - it leaves dry crusty bits around the threads of the bottle. I was concerned about it drying out like that in my pen. For a long time, I had no problems so I didn't worry about it. Just recently, I was going to refill the pen (a Pelikan M600), and discovered that both the nib and piston were frozen and wouldn't unscrew. First time I've had that happen. It took a lot of soaking in water to unglue it. I'm less happy with it now.

Thanks for the great review. I love this ink and the beautiful color, especially in a broad nib. The only issue I have had is it tends to dry up in the nib which makes me have to keep it capped if I don't plan on writing for more than 30 seconds.

      @asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

      There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.

      Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

      Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
