Anyone Else Freak Out When They Misplace A Pen?

Even if it isn't an expensive one? I bought a Kaweco Sport just to try it out and added an italic nib not too long ago. I discovered that It sure is a handy pen to slip in a pocket and a smooth writer too. I was becoming quite fond of it when suddenly it went missing. I don't know if I misplaced it or someone took it (working in a library, this happens) but I want it back! I have a lot of other pens but I feel like one of my flock is missing.

When that happens do you run out and buy a new one or wait until it turns up again?

I would only freak out because how the hell would I mis-place those huge things, and besides they'd only disappear if the whole pen case disappeared too. It would be like misplacing my expensive camera or lens.

I'm currently missing a MB Highlighter.

I'm not super freaked out - I work from home and it's around here - somewhere.

That's the only other time I'd freak out, if I thought I lost it outside of the house.

Course depends on the pen, If I lost my X750 or X450 (probably bout the same price as the ~20$ Kaweco Sport, since I replaced the nibs on them), I'd be annoyed but not utterly freaked out as they can be easily replaced.

If I instead lost my Sheaffer Snorkel or Touchdown (both of which restored to like-new condition, and runs more the realm of 60-100 to replace), I'd be a bit more freaked out.

I tend to know where all of my pens are at any given moment. On those rare occasions where I do not know where a pen is, a search ensues and is not completed until the pen is found.

I have made the mistake of loaning pens to my daughter (in the past, she is better now) and have them disappear for months (I am actually still waiting for an unknown flighter of Brazillian heritage with an Edison nib to reappear...). She currently has a handful of my pens (including a Rosetta Magellan with a jpb2 stub) in her daily rotation...

I had a pencase stolen some years ago (with two cheap pens - but they constituted the entirety of my collection at the time). Since then I am super paranoid.

Me?

Just some minor foaming at the mouth and flopping around on the floor. ;)

It doesn't happen that often, but when I DO temporarily misplace a pen, I basically stop, turn my world upside down and shake it until I find the pen.

I think my family is weird here. My Dad was always misplacing things and enlisting Mom and I to find whatever was missimg. Shaking an upside down

world to find something "missing" comes natural to me.

Oh yeah...less stress to drive and find out rather than spend the weekend wondering.

I've been known to drive to work on the weekend to see if I left a pen on my desk.

More than once.

I lost a Parker Duofold on a walk, and only noticed the fact after we got back - and it was after dark. What was worse was it was snowy and the pen was a Pearl & Black. I got up the next morning and was out at first light, and found the pen sitting on a snow bank.

Over the weekend, I misplaced my pocket note cards with a Parker 51, Parker Vac Sr. Max and a Bexley OC attached.

Even though I knew it was 'around here somewhere,' I was very unhappy until I remembered the place I put it- particularly so I would remember where.

I freak out when I misplace anything. If a pen went awol, no one in the family would rest until I'd found it.

I dare say! I have spent 2 hours emptying all my bags (I hoard bags as well as pens) looking for a Picasso Montmatre - and then once again some weeks later when it still hadn't showed up. Got so frustrated that I ordered 2 new specimens just in case...and then it turned up half a year later...in one of my girlfriend's bags (she hoards bags as well).

I went nuts when I dropped a Cross Townsend in a parking lot. I was very lucky to find it.

I once left my Sailor ProGear Slim that my dad got me for Christmas at work. I definitely freaked out. But not as much as the time I left my phone at work, and I didn't realize it until I got home. I went back for my phone, and I live at least 45 minutes away from work. But I was very relieved to find that my pen was still there the next day. I didn't really think it would get stolen, but you never know! I usually keep all of my pens in a 20-pen case, though, so there isn't much of a chance of a pen getting away from me. That doesn't stop me from temporarily misplacing unposted caps (and subsequently freaking out) while using said pens, however...
