This is great! Now I'll be able to afford a bottle of the Zuiderpark Blue-Green teal that I've been wanting for a long time. :D

The small bottles are about the same price as the large ones. There's about one Euro difference.

That's terrible.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Can I say what I really want to say, if this is true that the small bottles are going to cost the same as the big bottles? Say it ain't so!

Good thing I have already limited myself to getting only one little bottle!

Breathe. Take one step at a time. Don't sweat the small stuff. You're not getting older, you are only moving through time. Be calm and positive.

Awww, I sure hope that this information turns out to be wrong... Now I am very much looking forward to (or dreading) seeing the actual price, as there are several colors I am coveting, if the price is right...

Given the hyped interest in these bottles and the unique selling point - I could understand Akkerman totally for raising the price!

Michael

Excuse me for spitting in the drinking water, folks; but I am curious -- as someone who has <never> used Akkerman's inks: are they so much better than, say, Diamine? Why does everyone love these inks so much, when they seem to me to be very expensive?

Please indulge me...

They seem to be very similar to Diamine's ink colors, IMHO mostly for the interesting bottle and large amount of ink for sale.

very similar to Diamine's ink colors,

some even speculate that they are Diamine in disguise.

I'm in for the bottle-hunt. If I buy Diamine's Poppy Red or Akkerman's China Town Red doesn't matter to me inkwise. It's all about the bottle, which comes with a decent ink

Greetings,

Michael

I'd say that they are "variations" and/or "company-withheld" improvements of the Diamines... So that -- among anything else -- they may very well have a better (higher) concentration of dyes and/or a flow and/lubrication e.g. due to the addition of 0.001 to 0.05 % surfactants such as Triton, Tween, or Emulgen etc.

I've yet to find an iron gal that looks like or behaves like their No10.

Not used any other colours but would really like to try some out in case they're half as good as No10.

Perhaps is psychosematic (sp?), but their ink has worked flawlessly in all my pens, and I can't say the same thing about any ink other than the Montblanc inks that I also use.

Because, quite simply, they are very groovy.

Not "so much better", just the deciding little bit. At least, this is my experience with Diamine Majestic Blue and Akkerman Shocking Blue.

I first bought the Diamine ink because the price of the Akkerman bottle set me off. Majestic Blue is a lovely ink, but in the end, I still wanted to know if the Akkerman one is really the same and bought a bottle (i.e., three, two as presents, so that I had an excuse for spending so much money).

Shocking Blue really is better, because its sheen is incredible. When using it on Tomoe River paper and then looking at it with the right angle to the light, you have the impression of looking at some shiny metal, reddish, though. The words fail me, but believe me, I spend a lot of time with looking at that sheen.

I would still like to know where the information comes from that the smaller bottles will cost almost the same as the large ones.

There is a thread at FPGeeks where someone posted

the price after going to the actual store.

It's interesting as, after I commented on the price, most of the Geeks were appalled that I make any comment about it as most are oh-so-happy to be able to get a smaller bottle. No one over there was concerned with the price jump.

I'd rather the large bottle so I can give half away to a friend.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
