Removing The Cube End Of The Lamy Abc Fp

Hi guys

Always thought that the Lamy ABC looks kinda kiddy, though a joy to write with. I am wondering if it was possible to modify or hack the cube thing at the end to make it more smooth going (as you see on cigar shaped pen), which will also allow posting. But I am worried if the wooden portion will slide off?

Any ideas of anyone who tried?

I would guess that since Lamy uses the same nib people just get a different pen. Can you see into the barrel, see how it is attached?

That's something I would try. If anybody has an ABC fountain they want modified - I'll try it for free just to try it. That cube has kept me from trying the pen and I'd like one without that on it. :)

I own a Lamy ABC. I don't love it. In fact when I purged my pens this past fall, I wanted to purge it as well, but didn't because of my name on it (the paper/plastic thing). Surprisingly, it found a role: a desk pen at work the I fill with a red ink I don't love and use to correct papers.

The square thing on top is because of the intended market: schoolchildren. The square thing keeps the pen from rolling off sloped desks. I don't know this for a fact, but I would guess that the square thing is glued in. Maybe the plastic liner inside the wood and the plastic thing are all one. (I'm not an expert on plastics.) Anyway, I don't think it can be rounded off, at least not with satisfactory results.

I have one and I think it is glued. I keep mine on my desk so my neighbor's kids have something to write with when they come over to hang out and play with my dog. They love the pen. They know that they are not allowed to touch my fountain pens and since they have one of their own to use, they leave mine alone!! Perfect solution to them wanting to try mine out yet allowing me to enable new fountain pen users to our cause!

I was actually thinking of sawing the cube edges, then sandpaper to make it round =x

watch_art: I think it would cost me more than the pen to ship it over to you @_@
