Non Fading Blue Black Ink

Hi,

I know similar questions have been asked on here, but i have failed to find a thread with a definitive answer to my question. I would like a good blue-black ink which does not fade at all or as little as possible. I have tried Parker Blue-Black, but this started to fade very quickly. I have also tried Lamy blue-black which i wasn't too fond of. Apparently the old iron gall formula was much better, but it's difficult to obtain that nowadays.

Any Ideas?

Thanks

Noodler's 54th Massachusetts is a bulletproof blue-black ink, and their Air Corp Blue-Black is partially bulletproof, so it should be fade-resistant enough to stand up to normal use. They also just came out with a Blue Steel color but I don't know what its properties are.

For iron gall inks, people like Diamine's Registrar, R&K Salix and ESSRI (that's an acronym, Ecclesiastical Stationary Supplies Registrars Ink is the full name). There's also a Chesterfield Archival ink and I think Akkermann does an IG ink as well.

My understanding is that Chesterfield inks are rebranded Diamine inks. So their Archival ink is the same as Diamine Registrar's.

Skrip blue-black is water resistant and has not faded for me, so I'd suggest it to you as a daily ink. Very reliable, have not found a pen it does not work well in, and it's widely available.

The new formulation is a bit lighter than the old fashioned stuff, but works just as well.

Oh, and here was the call to arms for the 2013 Fade Olympics.  The samples will be coming down soon and start being scanned.

Meanwhile, here is post with the links.

THE LAS VEGAS PEN POSSE

Invites you and your ink to compete in our 2013 Fade Olympics.

Prior events have been widely attended by FPNers globally.

The 2012 Summer Fade Tests had over 800 samples.  We tested ball point pens, roller balls and fountain pen inks. We experimented with different papers.  We even compared how some the inks withstood the sun after being exposed to water.

Smaller tryouts - Including the Four Months in an Attorney's Window and How Long Does Toner Last? have been critically acclaimed.

If you would like to submit your samples, please PM amberleadavis for mailing information.

We look forward to a sunny new feature!

Pelikan 4001 Blue-Black doesn't fare too badly.
