Are All Duofold Centennial Size Pens Really Centennial's

Hi all

I have what is supposed to be a Parker Duofold Centennial an English made model.

Every Centennial I have seen has had Centennial on the Nib and a Centennial Cap Badge but mine has Duofold on the Nib and Duofold on the Cap badge. It does measure the same as the Centennials though.

So the question is are all Centennial size pens Centennials regardless of Nib and Cap Badge or is it only pens with Centennial Nibs and Cap Badges that are Centennials.

Unfortunately I didn't get the original box and paperwork.

Thanks for any help.

Paul

I may be wrong, but I think there are some Centennials that had different cap badges.

Can you post a photo or two of your pen? If not, a short description?

Yes. There are many variations of cap badge (or no cap badge for the earliest examples). There are also at least 3 different nib designs (arrow, banner and ace) plus those reserved for LE models.

Hi all

Here are some pictures of my pen, its in a lot better condition than it looks in the photos, there are no scuffs or scratches, the OC Flash has amplified every finger mark and smudge.

The dimensions are correct for a Centennial as far as I can tell and Its made in England with a date code of Y.III

...Every Centennial I have seen has had Centennial on the Nib and a Centennial Cap Badge...

I've never seen Centennial on either nib or medallion. As noted, I've only seen arrow, Duofold banner over arrow, and Ace of Spades on nib, and Parker Duofold in ring around geometric pattern, Duofold banner, and Ace of Spades on medallion.

I don't mean to doubt you, but I'd think getting Centennial on a nib would be pretty difficult and result in tiny illegible print.

I'm considering one of these too. Are you happy with how it writes?

The Centennial cap badge only appeared on the Mark 1 Collector Edition Duofold as far as I can remember. I may be wrong though as there have been numerous modern Duofold models over its 25+ year history.

i have six centennials, a couple of them from the earliest days of the new version, and none of them have "centennial" on their nibs. the earliest ones also had no cap badge. yours is clearly a later model, with a streamlined (slanted) cap end.

here's my favorite of my centennials--a greenwich special edition:

Hi

I am totally happy with it, it writes like a dream and always writes first time, no matter how long it has been capped for.

Congrats Paul80!

I like the more recent Duofolds with the two convex cap bands.

I'd like one myself one day.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
