Parker Presidential

Hello everybody

I was given a Parker Pen for my 21st Birthday which is a long time ago now. The pen is a Parker Presidential Solid 18 Carot Gold Fountain pen with the tear drop effect, made in England. It has an outer cardboard box which says Presidential on each end, it then has a red box and a brown leather holder for the pen. I think it is a 75 edition? it has a concealed nib with an arrow pointing downwards towards the nib. As I don't have any use for this pen could anybody advise me on what this pen is worth? I have seen 9 carot versions going for a reasonable some of money and I would imagine that the 18 carot version must be pretty rare?

I would tend to concur with Vikrmbedi. Your description points my mind toward a Parker 61. Do you still have the box and instructions ? Filling instructions might be a clue, as well.

It might be fun to try and find it at this site >>>>>

Hello and welcome to FPN! We are not an appraisal site as per the rules of the forum and sales within FPN are limited to gold or premium members. As to your question several of these are currently listed on ebay with 'buy it now' prices. Look for 'Parker 61 Presidential' and you will find them.

I have one similar to yours, although it is made out of 9ct gold, you can see it in the 4th post of this thread. I am almost positive the pen you have is a Parker 61. The 18ct version was made for the French market, although it was sold in other countries besides for France. A member of this network sold an 18k gold Parker 61 presidential through the FPN classifieds for $1040 including shipping, which is approx. the value as your pen.

I would recommend making sure you want to get rid of the pen before selling it, they are not only great writers but they are quite rare. If you sell it but start to miss it, the chances of acquiring a similar pen are slim to non. When I first started collecting pens, I had a nice 14ct solid gold Eversharp Skyline FP and pencil set. A man offered over me double what I paid for it, so I sold it on the spot. To this day, I regret letting that set go, that pen was such a great writer, I still have yet to find a comparable pen. Just my 2 cents.

Anyway, welcome to the Fountain Pen Network!

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
