Show Us Your Solid Gold Pens

Swan from 1931/2 with 18k overlay on an autograph card from the dancer Gret Palucca in the book Der Moderne Tanz (The Modern Dance) from around 1928.

Original nib was a rather stiff and well written M or F nib. I exchanged it to a broad flex nib. Now it is ready for everyday use. It is without clip and ring. So it can be only put into pockets like my trousers pockets. Nice with this pen is that it is smooth and nearly without edges, so it feels good for me.

My new Waterman's Ideal 42 with 14k Italian overlay from Kosca made for Waterman.

That is a great looking pen - thanks for the pictures

You are developing a fantastic collection of gold pens, it would be great to see a review of the whole collection if you can find the time :)

Thanks, Da Vinci. I have at the moment eight vintage pens (pre 1935) with golden overlays. I will show them over the year.

Some lovely pens in this thread, that MB, P61 and Pelikan above included! Keep them coming.

I think I have shown this Waterman's Ideal 52 already somewhere here, but it is missing in this thread. It has an Englisch 18k overlay with hallmarks from 1928/9. The book is Hans Brandenburgs "Der moderne Tanz" from around 1919.

I'm glad someone resurrected this topic. There are some beautiful gold pens out there.

I'm still trying to figure out how to list all my pens down here.

Thanks, it is a nice pen. So is the HEV, although the picture above doesn't do it justice. Here are a couple more.

A (probably) Waterman's Ideal 552 1/2 with 14k trefoil vine filigree overlay on "Nude Beauty" from 1907 which is the year that type of overlay was introduced. The title of the first assay in this book is "Clothing and Morals". The coins are the price of the pen when new: $27.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
