Here's a writing sample of Platinum Blue Black with two different pens.

1) The first line is written with a 0.3mm Preppy. The ink looks and feels dry. It's not a pleasant writing experience. Nevertheless, the drying time is 20 seconds. In contrast, with the same pen, Platinum Blue dries as soon as it hits the paper but offers a "wetter" and more pleasant writing sensation. The Preppy with Platinum Blue is a combination that I often give away to lefties for exactly that reason (though I give them the 0.5mm version, which is wetter, but still the ink dries almost instantaneously). With Blue Black, however, the pen loses its appeal (not enough lubrication) and is unsuitable for lefties.

2) The second line is written with an old Sheaffer Targa from the '80s with a 14k nib that's slightly on the broader side of medium and has a tiny touch of stubbishness. This is a wet pen. The ink looks much nicer with this pen. Drying time is *long*. After 30 seconds, the ink smears with even a light brush of hand or clothing. Full dryness was achieved after 90 seconds. In terms of writing sensation, the Sheaffer feels even drier with Platinum Blue Black than it does with Pelink 4001 Blue Black, offers less lubrication and a *much* longer drying time.

Paper used: Rhodia.

I intend to use the Sheaffer with this ink throughout the coming week, but first impressions are not favourable. In terms of appearance, the ink looks OK in a wet pen, but it doesn't look any nicer than its competitors. In terms of lubrication, it's at the bottom end of the scale. Drying time is long, even in dry-ish pens. Hence it would seem that its main redeeming quality is its permanence.
