Bad news for me. I just dropped and smashed my briarwood with a customer Mottishaw flex nib!. I am hoping that John will be able to bring it back to its former glory....

If you don't mind us asking, are pictures possible?

Unfortunately Dillon, I am moving into a new house and I don't have the ability to take photos right now (I guess a new house is fortunate...).

I can tell you it looks like a Sailor Concord nib now. The tines are bending down..

You can buy resin impregnated briar and other woods, but it's still not really suitable for threading - it's more of a stabilization process to keep the wood in good shape and from crumbling. Most wood isn't suitable for fine threading like what you'd want on a quality pen.

Is it just the nib then? Somehow, I guess I thought it was the briar parts that broke. In any case, congratulations on the new house, and I hope your pen gets fixed soon!

I just got a Nakaya Briar from Classic pens this week. Thus far, I've posted the cap daily without even the slightest tell-tale signs. I suspect over time, posting the cap with leave a "polish" mark, or shiny circle on the end of the pen from where the matte finish of the burl comes into contact with the cap. Nevertheless, it will be very subtle--probably less noticeable than most resin pens. It is not a super-secure posting, though. Plus, the cap is heavy. If it loosens while on your pen, it's easy for it to fall off.

Does the nakaya briarwood post securely and if so does posting damage the finish?

Reason I ask is that I have a platinum #3776 (which I suspect is similar in size) and find that it is far too short for me to use without posting.
