The Fat One

Big and fat is this Model 90 made by Huashi.

  • slip-cap
  • ebonite feed
  • wet flow
  • smooth nib with feedback

I can't yank the feed and nib out, but it was aligned and well set out of the box.

Here are the quick and dirty. The packaging is rather nice.

Heilongjiang 90 vs Huashi 90

Both are 16cm, over 6 inches.

Have not heard that brand before, however, it is even much larger than a 149, impressive. Is it heavy?

No, it is resin.

The brand is defunct, I believe. But, it is not obscure. The factory was established in the early 1950s. According to reviews, with which I agree, the brand is known for decent nibs, but fit and finish are rather rough.

Interesting to see another interpretation of the Model 90 specifications! I do not know if the maker of Huashi in Hefei was the same firm who also made other brands such as Lily, Four Flowers, etc.

No, I am not going to list my pens here.

I have found an article detailing the history of pen manufacture in mainland China, which may contain the answer, Seele.

The article is really long.

Whitedot,

I have also found a few articles too, but they are not all terribly exhaustive, and lacking in real research and references. The article I did some time ago on the earliest history of Wm K Rockman is nowhere near exhaustive, as the lack of real data was most frustrating.

That aside I do have a couple of pens by Hefei, essentially identical but under two different marques.

No, I am not going to list my pens here.

It does. I was wondering what it was for.

I wouldn't pay $17 +$13 shipping for it. The HLJ is clearly superior.

Thank you whitedot!

Could you pls. post the item number?

I know it sounds a bit silly, but some chinese sellers are in some way censored in Germany's ebay.

When I clicked the link you posted above, still "0 results from this seller"!

I was able to watch his feedback and his sold items, but anytime I clicked "other items from this seller" --> "0 results from this seller"

It's a well known problem on ebay.de, but knobody knwows why this problem is also on ebay.com

Try changing the Item Location search parameter to "Worldwide".

This did not work - neither. Even worldwide search AND seller mizukushi gave "0 results", on ebay.de and on ebay.com.

This seller ist simply blocked.

But it worked with the item numbers - Thank you Paul!

And it bought both.....

whitedot, Seele, are those articles online? I'd love to learn more about the history of Chinese fps.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
