Callifolio Andrinople

I didn't expect to love this ink, but I do. Apparently I'm a lover of pink ink now, which is a bit of a shock for me.

Pinks inks can be tricky - too rosey, too red, too purple, too blah, too saturated. This ink toes the line and comes up with a great colour that isn't too punchy but also manages not to be washed out.

It looks GREAT on Rhodia and Cf paper, fading into three distinct pinks (check out the 'g' in garden) - dark, medium, and light pink - without ever getting washed out.

I love that it doesn't hurt your eyes to read a full page, but isn't too light or peachy either.

Man, that's lovely. There are several Callifolio inks I fancy now, but their shipping was pretty awful, last I checked.

 

ETA: Having visited their site, there are 8 inks I might like to try. And that works out to 48 euros, which is incredibly reasonable. Alas, shipping is 30 euros. 8 bottles of 40 ml ink for $93 US is still actually pretty darn reasonable, but a good bit to commit to for inks I've not sampled yet. Maybe for Christmas.

 

And in case anyone cares, the 8 are:

Andrinope, Botany Bay, Omi Osun, Violet, Bleu Byzance, Oconto, Olifants, and Ohlanga. Four of these are blue-greens that are extremely close to each other but I don't even care. All the blue-greens is belong to me.

I bought all of the inks and it came to $220 shipping included. Is the 30 euros shipping for the bottles? They are also sold in tetra packs and shipping is INCREDIBLY cheap.

 

I'll try and do the blue-greens next. I know they are close and I'm curious myself.

That *was* the shipping for the bottles. What do you do with the ones in packs? Do you leave 'em in packs? Do you have to decant them into something else?

I leave them in the tetra paks. They reseal just fine and a TWSBI fits into the neck of the pack with ease.

Iiiiiiinteresting. My TWSBI 580 (M) has become my "test all the inks" pen, so that's good to know.

 

ETA: And the packs contain 50ml for 4 euros whereas the bottles have 40ml for 6!

 

8 bottles (with shipping) was 70.16 euros or $93. 8 packs (with shipping) is 53.72 or $71. Sweet! Thanks for the tip.

I just sort of write whatever comes to mind for the paper samples. I am not a writer but I do consider myself to have a very active imagination and extremely vivid dreams.

 

the ink is Sailor Yama-dori. Probably my favorite ink ever, or at least in my top 5.

Diamine Flamingo Pink is my (current) favorite.

Many thanks for the review. Callifolio makes inks that intrigue me but there are not enough reviews to help with a choice. The inks themselves are not expensive but shipment even within Europe doubles the price.

Thank you for the review! I have been searching for reviews of Andrinopole. This seems like my color. I order a sample of this from Ink by the mL. I can't wait to get it.
