Organics Studio - Manganese Blue/black

Hello All!

This is my first ink review, so please be kind (and forgive my horrifying print!)

I am quite fond of blue/black inks, so I decided to start there. I inked three pens:

Noodler's Nib Creaper (non-flex) - Organics Studio Magnanese Blue/Black

Noodloer's Nib Creaper (non-flex) - Diamine Blue/Black

Chelpark Maverick (identical Indian twin to the above pens) - Noodler's Qternity

Of the three inks, the Organics came out the winner for me. The Diamine dried out over night, needing a dip in water to restart. The Noodler's started almost instantly, but it was a very wet flowing ink. The Organics Studio needed one little shake to start up after being left overnight, but after being left for three days started right up. The only time the Organics Studio needed any major prompting to flow again was after several minutes uncapped (the Noodler's started right up...the Diamine needed another dip in water.) Of the three inks, the Organics Studio seemed to be the most middle of the road, dependable ink for regular daily use. I really liked it and plan to try a few more colors with my next ink purchases.

I'm not sure if this is the same ink in a new package or if it is a slightly different formulation, but here it is:

Mine has a slightly different label. But it does say "Mn" mangante V. Perhaps it's an offshoot - or they could be the same thing in different outfits.

If it's the same -

I love the color of this ink. It's the only fp ink that I have used in sketchbooks to do 'art' with. It's a wonderful, deep, multifaceted blue.

Mine came from Vanness in Little Rock. Maybe different packaging at a different store?

I got the packaging for third world countries.

That comment had me laughing out loud -

Great to hear all of the feedback here on our inks! And yes, we have had some packaging transformations over the past year and a half, but we have settled on the one reviewed here.

Great to see you all our enjoying the Manganese (or Manganate V, depending on when you got your bottle - we dropped the V and changed the name a tad to make it simpler)

Nice ink, nice presentation and nice review. Thanks.

Why has this ink dissapeared from Goulet Pen Co.'s site? I seem to have read something about the ink coalescing or leaving solid residues or something like that. Is that correct?

If you want to know why don't you go to the source.

They're not the only game in town. Not everyone is drinking the Goulet KoolAid.

No need to be hostile.

My question has nothing to do with likes or dislikes about the Goulets but rather about whether the ink behaves well or not. And whether I go to the source or ask in the Forum that's not your business. If you don't like my post just ignore it.

I wasn't being hostile and I apologize if I came off that way. I figured it would be easier to find out what you wanted.

This company (Organics Studio) is run by a full-time college student (myself) and had some supply issues with the Goulet Pen Co, as well as an issue with our red inks. We ironed out the issue with the red inks, and have had zero issues since last November - however the Goulets wanted to wait until I was out of college and doing ink full time (which is something that probably won't happen - realistically). So basically, for a reason I don't quite understand, they are reluctant to carry the line again.

The company that Organics Studio is now is far more advanced and operating 1000s of times more smoothly than what was around when the Goulet Pen Co carried our inks. My guess is until people start asking them for our brand, they will be hesitant to carry it again after they had already put in a large amount of work to promote us when we were young and new (not that we aren't still new in this field, all things considered). For a better answer, ask them. And if they can't answer it, then demand they carry our inks and see what they say :) We have heard some wonderful feedback regarding our inks, and I would love to hear anything anyone says.

No need for anyone to be hostile - thats what countless other websites are for - we are all just pen and ink nerds here anyway :P

Hope this sheds a bit of light on the Goulet question. For our retailers, you can find us at Andersonpens.net, Bertramsinkwell.com, isellpens.com, zellerwritingcompany.com, vanness pens (in Arkansas), Wonder Pens (in Canada), and Amazon.com.

Thanks for taking the time to reply, really.

Maybe I failed to make my point clearly when I put forward my question, which did not mean to be about the Goulets' commercial decisions -I'm not even a regular customer- but rather about your inks. When I saw the OP's nice review, it came from the back of my mind that I had read somewhere about some Organics Studio inks leaving sediments and, more specifically, the Mercury red congealing altogether. As I tend to think of forums as informal places to informally chat with others, I didn't bother to carry out a previous research in order to substantiate my question. That's why I incidentally mentioned the Goulet (I could have said a "well known ink vendor"), as a would be evidence that perhaps something could have gone wrong with the inks when a "well known" vendor had ceased to distribute them. I think, though, that your account of the facts does shed light on the issue.

However by no means I want to derail this thread, and I will just add that I wish you well, that being a chemist myself I frankly like and sympathize with the whole concept behind Organics Studio, and particularly with the Element series. The colours are more than beautiful, they have a "chemical" pure beauty, different from other inks. The boxes and presentations and the graphical design of labels are just superb, and I am wiling to give them a try as soon as I am convinced that they are safe for my beloved fountain pens.

Best

Carlos

Hi,

The occurrence of particles in Manganate V was mentioned in Post № 15 onward https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php/topic/225938-organics-studio-manganate-v/?p=2440162 I am not aware of other occurrences.

As the OSMV mentioned in that Topic was from the very early numbered bottle production, I believe the occurrence of particles was a start-up 'glitch', and have confidence it was resolved.

The Manganate V in the numbered bottle I received remains sound and perfectly usable.

Bye,

S1

great looking color. easy on the eyes. dark enough to be formal but not too dark so that it still shows enough color to stand out.
