Good Pen/ink Store Near Boston?

Hey guys! I'm pretty new to fountain pens, but I would love to find a good store nearby me. Does anyone know of any really good pen or ink stores in the greater Boston area? I just don't like purchasing such personal items (how a pen meshes with one's handwriting is, in my opinion, very personal) online. Especially if I were to dish out on an expensive pen; I have a Lamy Safari EF nib now, and I love it, but I was thinking of getting myself something a bit nicer before college, but only if I can purchase it in person. Thank you!

I highly recommend using a brick-and-mortar for your first more expensive fountain pen--if possible.

 

I've been to two of three stores that I know of. One is Paradise Pen in the Burlington Mall. I bought my first expensive fountain pen there, and I got some knowledgeable advice and to "dip" a few of my front-runners. Very happy with that purchase still.

 

The second one is the Bromfield Pen shop in Boston (not far from Boston Common on a street called "Bromfield", of course).

 

Finally, I hear there is a Levenger in the Prudential Center, but I've never been there.

God, thank you! I spend pretty much every day in back bay, which is wicked close to Bromfield (close-ish at least). That sounds perfect!!

+1 to the Bromfield suggestion. I pretty much have purchased all of my ink and other pen-related supplies from there. Lovely little shop with really nice people, as long as you don't get overwhelmed by sheer selection and also talk to them a bit. Last time I was there, one of the clerks (the old lady, whose name I managed to forget) showed me a Parker Vacumatic and an odd Omas that Victor (aka the Omas guy at the Boston Pen Show) dropped off. They also had a few odd 51 Aerometrics, by the looks of it. No affiliation, but again, pretty awesome place.

Levenger is indeed in the Prudential Center Mall. You may want to check out Bob Slate Stationers in Harvard Square as well.
