Suggestions For Improvement And How To Write Æ

I've had terrible handwriting my whole life. In elementary school, I wrote in what my teacher said was "Spencerian Ladies' Hand" (but I think it was altered, based on examples I've seen over what it SHOULD look like) until Sister G. in sixth grade took pity on me and insisted that I print on graph paper, with each letter in a separate square. Yes, my writing was THAT bad.

It's gotten a little better now that I've been trying not to stab savagely at the paper with my pen, squeezing the life out of the poor thing. I've even resurrected my old elementary cursive, and this time, it's legible! However, it's still nothing to look at. I also have no idea how to write æ, which is a problem because my Latin tutor at college next year is supposed to be quite strict on having diphthongs written properly and not separated out. I don't even know how to write and "a" except the way it is in the picture!

PS this picture is my everyday writing, which explains the super random content.

These might help you. The Norwegian language still uses the 'ae' so you can find practice on writing it in there.

Working on getting your slant and letter forms consistent would be the best thing to start on, in my opinion. Letters don't need to be "pretty" as long as they all look the same. If you can't tell one 'l' from another 'l', etc, then you're going to have a bad time.

Thanks! Right now, I don't even know what each letter looks like. I think I'll root around and find my second grade penmanship textbook.
