Pilot Mr Review {Comparisons With Safari Included}

Just to clarify. I got a back dots Pilot MR from stationary art. It came with a squeeze convertor that is the standard pilot size. Although I haven't tried yet I am pretty sure the pen will accept con20/con50. It will not accept international carts and convertors.

K so either Pilot made 2 MR's one that takes proprietary carts and converters and one that takes standard intl or they made one MR that takes proprietary carts and converters and it exactly the same as the Metropolitan and they've just accidentally labeled it as a pen that uses standard intl. Thanks for the update parnesh

Ok I got a response from Pilot

The Metropolitan (also the MR) can accept the CON-50 and CON-20 converters as well.

Now the email was sent from Pilot US even though I emailed Pilot EU but she said that the info was sent from Pilot EU cause each Pilot subsidiary cannot assist outside of their region. I'm awaiting more info from them about this so I'll post it when I get it.

Not a problem.

I have to say, after using the pen for a few days, it has got to be hands down the best value for money pen around. The nib is quite smooth. The pen is quite well built, decent balance but maybe heavy for some.

If it took the con-70, you would almost not buy anything else lol. The only downside is the selection of nibs although the M I got will do most people as a everyday carry.

I got a prera and a 823 at the same time. While the prera is awesome, the MR puts it to shame at half the price including a convertor.

I keeping wanting to buy an 823 but as soon as I have enough money I spend it on another pen.

I agree the price for the pen is awesome for the quality you get, I don't know how Pilot does it. I think the Prera is way overpriced in the US cause it sells for almost half the price in Japan which is a way more reasonable price.

I also don't know why they don't make a fine nib for the Metropolitan when the Cocoon which is basically the same pen has it and they make an MR with it and the Prera uses the same nib just with a different etching.

The only thing I don't like about the Metropolitan or Cocoon is the inside of the cap which is plastic and I've had these break and once they do you can't cap your pen anymore but besides that it's such an awesome pen.

Have you tried the 823? If the it fits you ergornomically, get the pen. It is really nice. At the moment the prices out of Japan and asia are really good due to the exchange rate. I paid $215 for mine including shipping from stationery art (No affil etc) as they have a sale at the moment but are sold out of 823s.

The prera was $25 but even at the price, I would most likely pick the MR. Yes lack of other nis is a concern. Would have loved a B stub like the 78G.

I got my Prera from Stationery Art and was going to get a Sapporo from them but changed my mind. I really wish they made an 823 with silver hardware since I'm not a big fan of gold but I like the big nib on it and the filling system. I think I'm finally going to go for one with my next paycheck I would really like to get the clear demo one but there kind of hard to find if I can't get that though I'll get the transparent black one cause I don't really like the amber-brownish one.
