I agree that Fook Hing does have very high standards of customer service, and - to the detriment of my wallet - prices that are just as good.

Thanks guys. I wasn't aware of Fook Hing. Will visit it one day. I haven't had much of a positive experience with regard to pens in Singapore. Most places are overpriced.

I had mostly visited Aesthetic Bay for Noodler's Inks. But they haven't had any new stock for over two years! In fact the last time I went there, they didn't even have any blue ink from Noodlers.

Recently, I contacted Lamy for repairing my fountain pen and they directed me to Duralink. I sent Duralink an email, but received no replies. Does anyone have any experience with Duralink? Or, am I better off just buying spare parts or an old used Lamy to fix the current one?

In mid March 2017, I visited Singapore and was most impressed by the quality and friendliness of service of two shops both almost next door to each other in the Bas Basrah shopping complex;

Fook Hing- very good range of pens, including quite rare items. The manager was happy for me to try different pens, even readjusting an Aurora nib, but in the end I found the prices too high. The manager didn't mind having spend 1/2 an hour with me without a sale, gave me his card and hoped he might post me something in the future if i bought online. In other words, a real pen enthusiast happy to assist and only interested in making a sale to a customer who was happy with what he bought. Very impressive service and I shall certainly return there on my next visit. I support all the strong recommendations made by others for Fook Hing.

Kwan Guan Watch Pte- Shop No #01-37- just next door to Fook Hing also sells pens and had a marvellous range of Pelikans, including a large display of now discontinued rare models. I bought an excellent M600 Marine Blue demonstrator with a fine nib at a great price. The lady who served me could not have been more charming. Definitely worth visiting.

Unfortunately Singapore and Asia in general is no longer the bargain paradise it used to be for visitors from the West.

I would say the reason you go to FookHing is not because you're going to expect to get a bargain on a pen you saw on the internet. Those days are gone. They might be able to give you a better price than the standard manufacturer's price.

However you really go because the staff there are nothing short of amazing and tuned into the needs of the regular pen collectors. They order special nibs that are not usually available for Montblancs so you don't have to suffer the wait. They buy up existing stock of pens that are either no longer easy to access or in production and pass on the bargain to us. They would help you tune a nib that's a little wonky. They also have limited editions that are unique to them, such as the Franklin Christoph 66 in a special finish. They are just super nice people, and because of that, almost everyone in the pen collecting community go to them in Singapore.

I usually go to Overjoyed by Rochor Mrt station. The atmosphere there is more laid back than other stores mentioned here. They stock low and medium range pens. Not many high range pens. Aesthetic Bay is also pretty good. I've had some pens engraved there.

I visit the same shop whenever I am back home , always a great chat with Danny .
I was testing the Aurora sole with italic nib just yesterday , price is great but it was too toothing to my writing habit, after which Danny knew that F-C with special tuned 1.1 and 1.5 stub will suit me. The model 66 is lovely . I bought the 66 and 66 pocket each with the stub nib. Very happy customer . And what is special is that it is customized to blue color for Singaporean instead of regular green .
