Sherwood Green Or Evergreen

Whiteside

Recommended Posts

I would like to try a green Diamine ink and I'm looking for one that would be suitable for work purposes (note taking for files mainly) - Evergreen and Sherwood Green both look good to me but I'm leaning towards a purchase of Evergreen. I find it so hard to choose when the differences seem so slight. Would anyone recommend either over the other, or should I just try both?

For me and my tastes, Evergreen was too murky. Sherwood and Emerald were both dark, deep greens that did not glow on the paper haha. I personally prefer Sherwood as my go to dark green for daily use.

That is just my opinion of course... try them both!

I have a cartridge of Emerald in a Preppy and I hadn't really thought of that as being dark enough to be used at work. I haven't completely ruled out Green/Black either!

Here's a closer look at Evergreen from my blog.

Mr. Pentulant loves it because it's exactly what he wanted - a very dark green that can almost be mistaken for black at times.

I always suggest trying both - the more samples, the more fun ;)

While I second the Both recommendation LOL, I can say that Evergreen is in my rotation and great for business use (especially where other people will see what you write.) Nothing everything work-related is suitable for my pink/aqua/orange inks but Evergreen is, well, the new Black.

To add confusion, I'd have to say Sherwood. Last year I ended up getting about 20 greens to sample, and Sherwood ended up the winner for a very dark, deep green. I haven't regretted my choice.

At first I used the Green-Black. Then Evergreen. Then Sherwood. Then Evergreen.

Now?

Diamine Racing Green.

Caran d'Ache Amazon is definitely a favorite, but it's more of a bright green. And being discontinued, yes?

I've got Sherwood Forrest, and as others have said it's a great dark green for daily, professional use. (In fact, I bought the bottle to use for work because it's very close to black and black ink is just so boring to me. I much prefer blue-black. unsure.gif )

It's a bit on the drier side but still wet enough to be smooth, I think, so it's good for wetter pens/crappier paper.

That said, it's not much more than what it seems. At least in the pens I've used it in, there's not been much shading to speak of, if any. I think some of the other greens mentioned in this thread (particularly racing green) might be a little more exciting. Then again, if this is for work that might be something you want to avoid.

I love my Sherwood Green and have no issues using in a business environment. I also mix it up with either Pelikan 4001 or Diamine Blue Black....

I really love Evergreen--it's become my daily ink in several pens. Pretty well lubricated, dark enough not to be garish, but still a nice deep green. I really like the shading as it literally shades from black to green.

Sherwood is the winner for me. I'm using it currently for the first time; the very dark green, with slight shading, is crisp and attractive and would be well-suited to work. I haven't used Evergreen, but I found Emerald to be a bit bland.

Whiteside,

I really like the Diamine Green-Black; I use it at work with no issues or grizzling from Managers :)

Have fun !

Best regards

I use the Private Reserve Sherwood Forrest. It's the only green in my box and it would probably be OK for business use. Every now and again I decide to fill a converter with it and put it to general and personal use at home.

I prefer blacks, dark blues and occasionally dark reds (a la Noodler's Tienanmen) for business and brown or sepia inks for personal writing.

Don't do it. :o :headsmack:

Choose the other one

(OK, so maybe I'm a little biased.)

I've got Sherwood Forrest ...

I thought I'd got it ;)

But then that fool of a Sheriff thinks he has, too :P

To err is human. To errrrrrrr is confusion.

I love Sherwood Green. It's my favourite greenish ink. I find it smart enough for note taking and memos at work. As previously mentioned it also shades beautifully.
