But the M800 looks so nice in hand.

But the hole in my pocket doesn't.

Excellent writing. And now for the bad news... I think this ink is un-nice because it seems to be forcing me to buy an M800 tortoise...

I say buy the tortoise; it is a beautiful pen and goes well with brown ink. The M800 is one of my favorite pens. I need to have many colors to try to keep track of all the various inks and nibs I have in them. I am glad Pelikan changed the caps recently, now I can buy more.

I just received an M910 today from Germany. New dilemma: What ink shall I put in it.

Diamine's Pumpkin? No, that doesn't sound very extravagant but it is optically pretty close.

That's an idea, but it is the black pen with the silver vermeil. Which pen would you use pumpkin with, the yellow or the red?

I just got some of the Fountain Pen Hospital Noodler's inks yesterday. You had some nice things to say when they were reviewed a couple of years ago. Have you tried any of them, yet?

Ya know, Frank, Pinstripe sounds like a good ink for that pen, it's a very formal pen.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Eh, skip the M800 (too grey for me) and get a 50s era tortoise! Much prettier, smaller, lighter, and those lovely SOFT old nibs. ;) They'll make the shading in this ink just POP!

Just so you know, Amberlea has taken this topic into some off-color directions. Your Ecclesiastical Authority may be concerned. OTOH, mine wouldn't care.

The M910 I see in P'site looks exactly like Pumkin.

Now if yours is the black pen with the silver vermeil, then how about this crass idea: get in touch with Herbin and tell them that after trying out 2 of their LEs, one of which has a gold vermeil, you now need a black one with a silver vermeil... Platinum wouldn't harm...

Lapis - Pumpkin has a "p" in the middle. For decades my dad has called my step-monster "Pun'kin" -- one day they were watching a talk show - think Donahue. These each women get on the stage and talk about their wonderful husband(s) .... they each describe how he looks (the same) ... how he acts (the same) and the each describe how their husband(s) call them the most wonderful nick name .... yes, all three women have husbands that call them "Pun'kin". By this time, the audience knows what the women do not. They are all married to the same man. My Dad tells my boyfriend this story and they laugh. That year for my birthday, I got a pumpkin paperweight (made by Joe Rice). I did not laugh. My dad and step-monster named their English Mastiff, Pumpkin. Me, I dumped the boyfriend but kept the paperweight. I don't think Pumpkin ink is a good idea.....especially not if it smells like Paco Rabanne.

Uh, so let me get this straight ....

You prefer SOFT and OLD to YOUNG and STIFF??? Especially since SOFT and OLD makes it POP?

Tandiana, we gotta go out and get some more experience!

I'm a bit late to the party, not sure where I've been to be honest.

But great review Mike! Amber looks much better than I thought it would! Looks like this is another on the list!

How ebarrassing to me... I'm already blushing and/or bursting. No offence meant -- honestly -- but I just don't know where to place myself... SOFT and OLD or YOUNG and STIFF??? I think I need another crate of wine...

Mine would laugh, quite a lot. ;-) But he'd also find this thread pretty tame! (Have you all HEARD clergy humor after a bit of scotch?)

OK, let's see, Scotch, Bourbon, Gin & Tonics, Martinis, Tequila, Vodka Collins, Beer, White Wine, Red Wine, Communion Wine, Port Wine, Beer (again), Grand Marnier, Drambuie, well, anyway, you get my point. Yes, you're so right. I guess it was my excitement and carelessness of typing. Of course it has two ps. After all, there was (is?) the label Barking Pumpkin Records.

Anyhow, this is the M910 in pumpkin that I was thinking of:

Don't forget The Smashing Pumpkins (who were not on Barking Pumpkin Records).

Very nice pen, Mike! Though it doesn't scream the need for Amber ink.

... ... I had a flash... in the afternoon... ... Remember that one?

Crazy me, I should have already thought about these other P. goodies of mine... An M320:

Carlo Collodi_1.JPG

and my Sahara:

lapis

Now that's something for a real partnership. Or as you may be thinking, yes, a crowd of three.

See?

 I sorta walked right into that one!

Though you don't want to knock those old nibs, they have lots of tricks up their feed... :roflmho:

OK, I am a little confused, let me recap. Tandaina likes prettier, smaller, lighter, lovely SOFT old nibs that make things just POP. But she doesn't want any grey. She also says you don't want to knock those old nibs, they have lots of tricks up their feed... Her Ecclesiastical Authority would just laugh a lot, especially after a few Scotches.

Amberlea prefers YOUNG and STIFF; a little grey doesn't bother her at all. She wants it to have a spell-checker and be wearing Paco Rabanne. Amberlea also thinks that she and Tandaina "gotta go out and get some more experience!"

Lapis, who started this topic, is so confused that he is being driven to drink. (Which will probably make things "smaller and softer".)

I do have a question for Amberlea, where do you propose that you and Tandaina go to "get some more experience"?

A pen store? Might I suggest Dromgole's in Houston. 185 miles from Waco. Would you two pick up some Noodler's Texas Bluebonnet for me while you're there. While you're at it, send one to Lapis, too, he probably needs one, and a bottle or two of Paco Rabanne. Maybe even get a bottle of Texas Pecan to compare with Edelstein Amber.

Umm... sorry to be serious for a change, but here is something for those of you in need. I worship him. That was a lyric out of "Wowie Zowie" in his very first album (1966):

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
