My 580 just arrived. I like the refinements and am happy to see the essence of the 540 remains in the 580.

Lovely! How are the new JoWo nibs? More specifically the wetness of the nib in comparison to the old Bock nibs.

The Jowo is wetter and a bit narrower compared to the Bock.

I'm still contemplating on whether I should buy one or not.................... :bonk: :gaah:

Thanks, that sounds perfect. I find the Bock nibs to be a tad on the dry side.

Oooh... I'm awaiting notification from Goulet of their arrival in stock!

Congratulations!

On the wall about getting one. Has the posting situation changed? How does the metal bump on the section effect things?

I just received my 580 as well. I figured that it would post better than the 700, but the 580 when posted is 7 inches long. That is longer than the 700 when posted. Also, the TWSBI site states that the product must be unopened for a return. Sigh...

From what I read on here (somewhere?) you can't post the 580, it is like the 540.

Pens and paper everywhere, yet all our hearts did sink,

Pens and paper everywhere, but not a drop of ink.

I just got mine as well! I was happy too. It is still a fantastic writer. What a great nib.

It is still not great for posting, but I would not post it anyways. It is too big to post comfortably for me.

Yeah, mine arrived too. Filled it with Diamine Teal, sweet writer.

+1 on wanting to know whether it posts any better than the 540 (which imo doesn't post, it's just a bad idea to post onto a piston knob that can turn)

Sorry for the distorted picture...both the 540 and the 580 are the same dimensions all the way around. I don't post my pens, but the 580 does not appear to post any better than the 540. Overall I am happy for the improvements, but the 540 is still a great pen.
