Looking For Just Loose Paper (Or A Notebook With Tearable Sheets)

I'll be writing letters and thank you notes with a fountain pen. Not looking for anything with a design like you'd see at Papyrus's boxed note cards and if there would be any design it would be minimal.

If price is of no concern, then I can wholeheartedly recommend some fine writing paper from Rhodia (Bloc & Premium R pads), Clairefontaine (Triomphe) and G. Lalo (Verge & Velin de France). Crane and Original Crown Mill have gotten positive reviews, though I have no experience with these brands.

These are all top bound and each sheet is detachable - ideal for writing letters.

I too recommend the Rhodia premium R pads as well as the Clairefontaine Triomphe pads. I use those for personal letters myself and they perform well with no extra designs or watermarks. Both are very smooth papers (the Triomphe feels slightly smoother), fountain pen friendly, and cost around the same in the US. I'll switch between the two depending on if I want white paper or ivory paper.

Those are sounding really good. ziptrickhead, assuming you live in NYC, where can I go to pick them up locally?

Art Brown up on 45th (http://www.artbrown.com/) might have the premium R pads. Their selection of paper is really good and I'm pretty sure I saw the R pads there last weekend I was there. Truthfully though I ordered it from online at gouletpens. I also got the Triomphe pads from the Goulets since it's not a paper that's widely stocked and I know for sure Art Brown doesn't have it.

EDIT:

Also the LI pen show is this coming weekend out at Hofstra University. I believe ExaClair is a sponsor so it's possible you might be able to pick up both types of paper there. The door fee is more than the flat shipping from gouletpens though so it might be cheaper for you to just order online if you aren't interested in going to the show itself. The standard shipping is 2 days + 1 processing day to NY so you'll get your order quick in case you're in a rush.

Much thanks. I'll try and stop by Art Brown today and remember those other resources afterward.

I'll add my endorsement of both the Crane and Clairefontaine; I've used and like both of them. I'll also recommend Strathmore's Script Smooth Cream Heather paper (although, as far as I know there are no matching envelopes) that you can order from www.mohawkpaper.com/samples, but be sure to order enough to make the shipping cost worthwhile.

Much as I like the Clairfontaine Triomphe pads, the one thing about them which disappoints me is the lack of watermark.

But to each his own. I understand that some people just don't care for watermarked stationery.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
