I haven't tried a whole lot of them, but I really love the Syrah. Antique Copper and a handful of samples should be showing up in the mail soon.

Ancient Copper here. That and Omas Sepia are the only inks I use.

Aqua blue is my favorite of all my inks, especially with a 1.1 Lamy italic nib.

I have several Diamine inks, in order of preference:

  • Umber - the best of all; lovely ink for personal writing on good quality paper;
  • Golden brown - lovely with wide/wet nib and fine paper; useless on absorbent paper; too light for fine nibs
  • Presidential blue - good blue for good quality paper, more interesting colour than royal blues of Pelikan or Parker, but also less suitable for lower quality paper
  • Passion Red - a (255,0,0) colour, good for what it is
  • Cerise - I have yet to find a good use for it - not holding my breath.
  • Jade Green - too pale for writing, even with the broadest, wettest nibs; has the saturation of highlighter ink, but bleeds too much for the purpose.

I also have the Registrar's which is an excellent classic iron gall ink, and as such in a class of its own, not really comparable to the ones listed above.

The purest and orangest orange -> Diamine Orange, I love this colour!

Best regards,

Steve.

P.S. A trace of Diamine Beau Blue below; a lovely light Turquoise.

P.P.S. I must try your recommendation!

My current fave is Oxblood; even the name sounds great, doesn't it? I also have (and love) Jade Green, Amber, and Sepia - kinda spoiled for choice!

Jet Black is my go to ink and I use about 1-2 80ml bottles a month. My other favorites in order of preference are: Woodland Green, Havasu Turquoise, Mediterranean Blue, Kensington Blue, Florida Blue, Sapphire Blue, and Aqua Blue.

Wow, that's a lot of writing you must be doing - the equivalent of about sixty cartridges a week, I think. Just out of curiosity, are you a calligrapher or professional scribe of some sort? It's all the more an endorsement of these inks, if so!

I don't have a lot of experience with Diamine inks yet but I love the Graphite that came with Goulet's ink drop and I will definitely buy a bottle at some point. I didn't think that I would like a grey ink quite so much.

Prussian Blue and Evergreen for me.

I like Diamine's ability to make subtle and complex colors. At £10 for four 30ml bottles and a free pack of cartridges, you I can't say no!

Pumpkin is my favorite. It does develop crud on the nib but it is the best "orange" I have used. It is the only Diamine I use regularly, though I have 5 other bottles.

I have yet to discover a Diamine color which does not qualify as my favorite ;-). Maybe Umber... yeah I'm not too excited about that one.

All of the Diamine inks are great, the one that stands out is Ochere.

Hey, Cap'n, my friend, isn't that a completely crass comment?

No, it was overshadowed by the Umbra.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
