Noodler's New Color Request

Recommended Posts

I have a request, if this color does not exist ... I would like ask to mr. Noodler's :notworthy1: a new black color with a hints of red shading barely noticeable and if possible with bulletproof or water resistent features, as the beautiful lacquer "Kuro-Tamenuri" of this fountain pen...

Noodler's Red-Black has more red to it but is close to the color of the pen. A free-flowing nib like my Namiki Falcon SF brings out more of the black component though the red is still quite evident.

Hi Margana,

thanks for reply... I know that beatiful color but, I looking for a black color with only an imperceptible shade of red; the pourpose of my request is for an ink that be used every day, even for documents.

It seems to be a wonderful color!!! :D

I agree with colex: Red-Black is too red...

I think he imagines a black at first look, but paying attention it suddenly shows red shadows! ;)

I hope mr. Noodler can do that... :)

Ps: sorry for my bad english!

I hope Private Reserve releases Ebony Red one day. Ebony Purple is one of my all time favourite inks.

I guess you're looking for a 'red version' of Diamine Eclipse; I'd be really interested in that ink too.

Unfortunately, I tried a lot of combinations between black and red inks, everytime obtaining different shades of brown.

I am looking for a real black ink with a deep red shade, too...but I think it will be not so easy to obtain it by myself.

Anyway I will try to mix Noodler's inks, for sure...

Very funny WillSW, but it only comes out brown in different shades! ;)

Dark red is analogous brown, I guess. Your solution is probably most attainable through your choice of pen and paper. Using a combination that promotes the most extreme shading (flex on Rhodia, maybe) would give you, with Red-Black, areas of black and areas of red. Otherwise you're looking for an ink formulation that has two colors that resist each other, which seems very hard to do and still have it be something you want in your pen.

I'll try to send a formally request to Dick Egolf (Noodler's) for a real Black with red shades and bulletproof property!

I hope it will consider our request... Since I'm not the only one!

For many years, my daily carry pen was a MB 145 loaded with an made my mixing equal quantities of MB black and MB burgundy. It was still black, but the burgundy gave it warm purple/brown overtones.

You can mix a Noodler's bulletproof ink with other Noodler's inks, but the resulting combination won't be totally bulletproof.

So if you are adventuresome, you could just experiment.

Hi all,

in meantime I've contacts with Wim and Dick Egolf (Noodler's distributor for USA market)for a new ink formula to request a new ink formulation to the great "inks master" mr. Nathan... :notworthy1:

This is our request that came from an italian forum discussion, look here:

http://forum.fountainpen.it/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1045

Hi,

We are looking for a new kind of black color, more precisely a black ink with very dark and blood-red shading. It would be a deep and dark color, good to be used in every day writing, but not so flashy as Noodler's red-black. A real black-and-red ink, a black with just red shadow.

All the other inks of that kind are usually dark brown or dark burgundy.

Nathan did a great job to make the blacks with only some shading as the formulation of El Lawrence or Zhivago inks, for example.

We would like a kind of red-black ink as the Nakaya dark lacquer "Kuro-Tamenuri"! So, a black with a bit of red, as a red grain.

We also would like it to be waterproof and bulletproof: it would be a challenge if he can make it happen without forcing us to mix different inks to get it!

Thank you again.

Kind regards,

Sergio

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
