Parker Cartridge (Quink Washable Blue)

Here's the soft, nice-looking blue that came with a Parker Jotter. It's violet tinged when fresh, but mellows out to a more definite blue, much like Diamine China Blue. It's advertised as being, well, washable, so water resistance isn't its forte. But it's still a fantastic color that's easy on the eyes. I'm actually going to be getting a bottle when I can confirm it's the same ink as in the cartridge.

There the tiniest bit of sheen, but nothing you'd ever be able to see without a loupe.

Very similar to Manuscript Blue.

I love the color of this ink and I love the easy-going behavior of it. It would make a great everyday blue ink for me, except the fact that I have found that it fades considerably over a period of hours, at least with the pens and paper I use daily.

I did some testing on various other inks in this color range, and I decided that China Blue is a really good substitute. The color is a bit bluer (I.e. less violet) than the Quink, even when dried, but it seems much more colorfast.

But I do like writing with the Quink! I think the color is soft and dusty and beautiful. Sits comfortably on the page. Thanks for the mini review!

I agree about the China Blue. Got my comments and posts a bit confused though!

You might wanna try Parker Permanent Blue, too. It stays a bit more violet, I think, and doesn't seem to have the fading issues. I really love it. :)

  • 2 months later...

I dropped using Parker inks 5 years ago because they had a tendancy to stain my pens and creep my nibs

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time
