Hero 6021

Has anyone here ever tried one of those? Are the Hero 6021 nibs like the 616's nib? How's the build quality?

I have not tried one of these.

 

In general, Hero is mid range for Chinese quality. They do produce some bad ones, but the average is reasonable. Fit and finish is generally OK rather than great.

HERO is the oldest pen company in China. They many, many models.

Fountain pen ink feed is well-refined, old technology. It is not

difficult to reproduce enmass. The issue would be quality control.

 

I own and use several Hero fountain pen from their "lowest-tier".

(Two to three dollars per pen.) They are giving satisfactory service.

 

What is the asking price of a Hero 6021 ?

I have some 616 and they are better than I thought they'd be, so I wonder if I should get a 100 or 110.

37US$ for 15 of them. I need some presents and an inexpensive gateway drug pen.

I suspect it would do well in that capacity. A hero 616 is another reasonable starter pen too.

However.. A Kaigelu 356 has worked well for Watch_Art in that capacity, but it is a little more expensive. I can vouch that the K356 is a good pen (see my review https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php?/topic/222537-sonnet-comparisons-with-lookalikes/ )

I haven't seen any Kaigelu 356 on ebay in some time. Could this be related to Chinese New Year? Are there any other sources for this FP with reasonable p&p fees?

Chinese New Year started on Sunday and is generally celebrated in China for about 2 weeks. Most sellers will stop listing as they may be traveling to their home village during this period.

 

The other hard thing is that the Kaigelu 356 is not often listed on eBay compared to the other brands as Kaigelu is not that widespread as Jinhao/Baoer (Mom & Pop Stationary Shops), Hero/Liseur/Doctor (Almost everywhere in China), Crocodile/Picasso (Most Mid to High end places) & Duke/King Crown (Most Mid to High End places) The other factor is their distribution network within China is not that big hence less sellers will carry the brand. For example it is near impossible to get a Kaigelu in Shenzhen next to Hong Kong. Depending on how soon you want it, I do have a few spares which have been flushed and the ball inside the convertor removed.
