Thank you for this!!! I've been looking for a good real-world example of this ink as I LOVE gray, black and blue. I seldom use blue inks, but love blue-blacks. I'm going to be ordering a Pilot Custom 74 to replace the Falcon I just returned and I think I'll get a bottle of this to go with it. :D

No, that's not blood. That's Noodler's Antietam.

My review sucked, but the ink is amazing. Reminds me of 54th mass from noodlers.i have been using it all morning and love it

I don't think it sucked. Convinced me, didn't it? :)

I have 54th from Noodlers and love it very much. I still want to try this one. One can never have too many blacks and blue/blacks in their collection, right?

Thanks for that! My next ink review will be more in depth. But it was my first time using my waterman 52 superflex, and I love that pen. I definitely agree that one can never have too many blue/black or blue/grey inks

I quite agree about there never being enough blue-blacks.

An ink that took me a little while to fall in love with (based on a sample from the Goulets). It's definitely a purchase for me in March when I go to Japan. There really isn't an ink like it. Reminds me of the back and forth I had with Herbin Bleu Nuit (not the same color, but I went from meh to love . . . speaking of, I have yet to replace the bottle of Bleu Nuit I went through!).

I had a similar experience with J. Herbin Bleu Ocean 1670 (Anniversary Ink). I bought it mostly because I had the Rouge Hematite and thought it would be nice to have the pair. I got it, inked up my TWSBI 540 and wrote a few lines. Hmmm... :hmm1: Not quite as exciting as the Rouge. Not in the least. But then I spent some more time with it and eventually started to really appreciate the bright, almost neon purple I got from it. I don't use it a lot, but it will be there for when I want a nice bright blue ink.

I'm trying to put a list together of Iroshizukus I want to get in Japan and I'm having that issue about Asa Gao, Shin-Kai and Syo Ro (do I really want them? Will I fall in love with them?). So far, it's definitely Tsuki-Yo, Ku-jaku and oddly enough Ina-Ho. I have no idea why that last one is calling to me like with a giant siren . . . perhaps it's that it feels very Japanese to me. We'll see what I get when I go in March.

I definitely notice the similarities with 54th Mass. Any thoughts on differences between the two (besides the water resistance of the Noodlers)?

I'd say Tsuki-yo, Asa Gao, Horse tail, and Wild Chestnut are all must haves. Yama Budo, Kon Pecki and others like some of the blue greens are too. Just depends on your color palate thing, but definitely a couple of blues and at least one if not both browns....

Best,

Interesting. Looks like more grey/green in the 54th Mass, and more blue in the Tsuki-Yo.

Anyone have both Noodlers Navy and Tsuki-Yo that can post a comparison? I have the former and I'm considering the latter.

I love Ina-Ho. I got a sample of it on a whim, and I've been writing a lot with it. A beautiful gold color, with a slight green cast. I think it's awesome, especially in a wet broad nib or a stub. Love it! :puddle:

Me too! I adore Ina-Ho and can't quite explain why. But I use it in my Pelikan Tortoise 400 with a flex nib and it's divine. I haven't bought a bottle yet, but I keep ordering samples.

I can't stop buying pens and it scares me.

Thank you for the review! I have Tsuki-Yo and love it, don't use it so much now as I am quite infatuated with FPN VG Starry Night blue. But the bottle will be there for later...

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
