Sorry,I just couldn't do 5k for a pen! I would do a Caran D'ache Ecridor Retro and a Pelikan M600. Then a river cruise in England or Ireland.

Play along and answer the question, which is what pen would you get if someone was only giving you $5k that could only be spent on a pen

I'd travel to Japan to get the Nakaya of my dreams <3 :roflmho:

And maybe a couple other Nakayas, to keep it company

These Nakayas seen to get a few mentions. Maybe its time I looked into why :hmm1:

Probably a MB Writers Edition of some sort - a Hemingway or Jules Verne.

Nervous? No, I'm just thinking...

Commission Lamy to make me a sage green 2000, and then add a unconditional lifetime warranty.

The sad moment when you actually have to explain what a fountain pen is to somebody.

The OP asked a simple question. My answer: A namiki emperor or MB limited editions. Go spend it and be happy.

It is quite amazing how many seem unable to enter into the fantasy proposed by the OP and seem unable to have a bit of a giggle over prices and some of the fabulously baroque proposals.

For my imaginary $5k pen I would find a NOS Lucite waterman 100 year pen with a monster nib, ink it up with bay state blue and have some fun :roflmho:

  • 4 weeks later...

Buy blanks of different material, commission someone like Romillio to make flex nibs, then have various pen-turners make pens. Give them some pompous sounding designer name and sell the resulting pens as Limited Editions.

How great is that?
