Where To Find An A7 Notebook?

PocketNotebook

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I've been searching for a pocket notebook, but the 'standard size' is to big for me.

It needs to be smaller then the pocket sized moleskine, about 4.5''x3.5'', softcover, and reasonably thick.

One like this would be ideal: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005DKMPUK/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

International shipping is also important.

Thanks so much,

For the price, why not try the one you've posted? 80gsm is a fair weight, although I'm not sure if they mean 96 sheets or just 96 writing pages (thus 43 sheets).

Most A7 papers I know of are in the form of pads, rather than notebooks, except for Apica Mini CD and Kokuyo, but it only has 30 sheets per notebook. Mine did well with my fountain pens, a lamy and a pilot with cartridge inks. I buy mine locally at Kinokuniya, but Rakuten sells them and ships worldwide.

However, for that size, I prefer a notepad since it's easier to cup in my hand and write. For that, there's Rhodia pads, and for your size, they have 2x3 or 3x4 sizes, both having quality paper, and there are plenty of stores that will ship internationally, like European Paper. I have used a few, but I didn't really like the large staple bind.

My favourite small carry is either the Kokuyo A7 Pad, which has a plastic cover guard to protect the front (only 40 sheets, though), or the Maruman Mnemosyne, which has 70 sheets. For this size, I actually prefer a ring bound.

Not sure if any of these will work for you, but good luck in your search!

Edit: I just wanted to add that I've shopped at all the links I've put in my post; JetPens is my favourite since it's in the US and ships much faster, but I don't know how long the shipping time is to NZ.

Rhodia Webbies come in A7 size. I don't recall if it's, lined, grid or dot. My best guess is lined. They make a regular Bound book style and a reporter style, IIRC. I believe I had to order them from Notemaker in Australia and Bureau Direct in UK. You might google both shops and see what they have in stock. 5-6 years ago I got some from a German manufacturer, I just don't recall who it was. Good luck, let us know what you find out, Jim

Thanks guys!

Gsalazar, I can't get that one because for some reason they won't ship that particular item overseas. Very annoying.

I did look at Rhodia, but they're hard cover. If I can't find anything else, then I might get one.

The Rhodia Webbies are very good quality and that would be my choice. I have an A5 and an A6 one, and I find the A6 one small!

Yes, the Rhodia's are perfect, except for the hard cover.

Anyone know of one similar, but with a soft cover?

Rhodia makes a small A7 staplebound notebook with 24 pages with soft covers. They are Black - Ref. 119159

Orange - Ref. 119158 and can be seen at www.exaclair.com

I can vouch for the quality of these notebooks. Great size (8 x 12 cm) to slip into a shirt pocket or even front jeans pocket. Covers are soft and have sort of a rubbery feel which is very durable. With only 48 pages, the notebook is very compact and portable. Being staple bound, the notebook folds back on itself effortlessly should you want to write while standing.

I wouldn't use it as a journal but it has held up well with use as a daily pocket notebook.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
