Erin Condren Life Planners

I found these last month. They looked perfect, but as I am always paranoid about paper I haven't ordered one. However, I did email them and ask them for some paper samples so I could try the paper out with fountain pens. They were kind enough to do so and so I wanted to pass along my findings.

In a nutshell, the paper is wonderful. It is quite thick and very smooth. There was no feathering with any ink I tried, and no bleed through or shadowing with all but the very wettest pens. Here are some quick photos.

I made some notes on the backs of these pages also, so you can see what it all looks like on the other side. Here are the same pages if you flip them over:

I find it rather ironic that Levenger advertises their paper as fountain pen friendly when it clearly is not, and Erin Condren Planners have not made such a claim and yet deserve too.

I ordered one of these planners for my daughter. She hasn't received it yet but I can't wait to hear how she likes it. I had my 2013 planning system set up before I found these, so I will have to wait until next year to order a whole planner. I would love to know if anyone here has used one and how they like it.

I used one last year and the book was HEAVY. However, they switched paper this year that is supposed to make the whole thing lighter and easier to carry. They have fun layouts and the colors are really appealing but the size makes it too big for me to carry everywhere which is really what I need in a planner. I still love Erin Condren's other stuff but that planner probably won't be one I revisit.

That said, this planner has a fanatical following and there are many, many people who adore this planner.

I have heard that last year's planners were very heavy. It is important to be able to able to take a planner along everywhere, so weight would be a consideration. I am looking forward to seeing how my daughter likes hers. Last year I made her a planner which she enjoyed.

The Erin Condren planners are also incredibly cute. I'm not sure something so adorable is quite my style. I am more a black leather kind of person (for planners, purses, shoes, etc.). Lately I have branched out into dark brown. My daughter, one the other hand, is 23 and absolutely darling. I have a feeling she is going to love it.

wow, what a lovely little company! Thanks for mentioning them, I'd no idea they existed! Their planners are probably big for me since I tend to stay with palm-sized (about a6), but I love that they do a planner that is mostly notebook pages with just a monthly planner! With phones for appointments I find at least for me I haven't needed a weekly calendar for years, but monthly is still useful for planning longer term...and of course tons of space for list making!

And wow, their extras are a-ma-zing! Quite as nice and thoughtfully chosen as fancier brands, but without all the fanfare! I will definitely keep an eye on this brand :-)

I'm not affiliated with ANY of the brands/retailers/shops/ebay sellers/whatever I mention or recommend. If that ever changes, I will let you know :)

Looking for a cheap Pilot VP/Capless - willing to put up with lots of cosmetic damage.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
