Erm, based on the huge amount of feedback I got for the Sheaffer Feather Touch PIF, I just wanted to warn that prospective winner that although I've mentioned that it was a vintage pen, I was basing that off the fact that it's 50 years old. Despite it's age, it doesn't really have the properties of a vintage nib, and believe me, it's one heck of a nail. The #5 nib, despite the fact that it's made of 14k gold, really is rough when writing on my everyday paper, so I hope that you might not be disappointed!

Oh, and on another note, I'm not really the guy to thank for that. It doesn't matter that he doesn't quite like the spotlight, but Russ is the guy to thank. His generosity is one we all should look up to.

Thanks, Russ!

Here's how I see it, at least to me........you get a pen in the PIF that you don't like.....re-PIF it, just like you are doing.

And Russ really is an amazing person with his constant generosity on these boards.

Does anyone have dip pen holders readily available? If so I may PiF a few glass nibs from 1910-1920 that I've acquired. Not sure if many of you would be interested though, the pif would require you have a handle for the nib readily available, so that I don't just give it to someone who wont use it.

Edit: Typo

MODERATOR'S NOTE:

Members establish their own rules for their PIFs. They decide how to choose their winner and who to send the packages to.

Winners and contest rules are not up for critique.

I hope I'm making myself clear.

To anyone who checks out this thread and drools a bit, hoping to get something, a tip: give something away! It doesn't have to be expensive or fancy or even in great shape, but it should just be something you no longer want/need that may bring a bit of fun to a FPN friend.

This "pay it forward" idea really does work. It isn't in a direct line, but things really do come back to you. I've posted a few things here (and giving them away really is fun) and I've also received a few very cool things from this thread.

Try it. You'll like it. :)

EDIT: All claimed. I may have more in the future, but for now I'm done. Grats alc3261 and ryanakca. :)

Here it goes, I've got a handful of glass nibs from around 1920, Let me know if you want one. Please be someone who will actually use it. These aren't worth a fortune, so don't try to get one just because you want something expensive for yourself. If you want it and will truly use it, let me know and i'll send you one.

Edit: just wanted to throw in a note, if anyone has any extra holders, I'd love one. I have tons of nibs but not anywhere enough handles :)

Edited to add: Winner chosen -- congrats to invisiblehats.

I have a bottle of Pilot Iroshizuku Ink in Yama Budo. I filled my pen once, and found I simply didn't care for the color.

So, a blitz just for the people who are online tonight. I will pick from those who reply by 9AM Eastern Standard Time tomorrow morning (about 11 hours from now).

Both Japan and Germany produced fountain pens with glass nibs identical to these prior to and during WWII.

Correct, the nibs I purchased are from 1920 and are German and Japanese. Someone has seen these before thumbup.gif

I would love to throw my name in for the ink. I love Iroshizuku inks. Thanks for the generosity!

I ran across a FP with a glass nib when sorting through some inherited family things. It was very interesting.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
