Found A Parker Pen

Hi,

I am currently researching this Parker Fountain pen. Could someone tell me if my information is correct?

Custom blue Parker Insignia fountain pen released in 1994, made in late 1987?

I opened the pen up and it has some sort of cartridge that is empty and looks like it never had anything in it.

I found a compartment with two refills in the case. Is it safe to say that this pen has never been used?

I honestly know nothing about fountain pens but when something has an interesting or nice case to go with it, I usually buy it if it's cheap.

Is this a good pen?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I think the Insignia is an underrated model. They usually sell at low prices, I used to have two but now only one left. More info here.

I had forgotten about this pen.

Looks remarkably like a Sonnet nib in a hybrid Sonnet/Frontier section.

Either way, Parker nibs from this period tend to be nice to use & it would be a nice pen. Just didn't take people's imagination.

Regards,

Richard.

That is probably the converter. If it is, it allows you to use bottled ink in the pen.

Yeah, yeah that must be what it is. Looking at it now, it looks like it acts syringe like.

Thanks for the info. I have always been a fan of pens, and it was fun researching it. I will have to keep my eyes out for more parker pens.

It is an Insignia, and I can only second the earlier comments that it was a very nice, but somewhat under-appreciated Parker.

The Insignia line was introduced as a bp/mp line intended to replace the "Classic" as Parker's upgrade bp/mp set (Jotters and Vectors being the lower priced options). A fountain pen and rollerball were later introduced to the line, but overall, the Insignia series fell into that era when Parker was fast losing steam in their "home" market in the US and the Sonnet line was introduced as the "higher end" Parker. I think the bp/mp Insignia models lasted quite a while, but the fp/rb versions were rather short-lived.

Insignias are a really nice pen, and I hope you plan to use it.

Hope this helps.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
