Parker Premier Monochrome Black Edition

Parker Pen 27

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I've had my eyes on a Parker Premier Black Monochrome Fountain for a while now. I was wondering if anyone had some picture of it, some reviews, some writing samples, or other information.

Thanks!

I made a review:

I speak portuguese there, but you can at least take a better look at how the pen works. It is a very nice pen indeed. I took a while to get used to the grip section, and I also made some adjustments after shooting the video in order to increase the ink flow (personal taste), but I'd really recommend this pen.

I hope it is useful. Bye!

Thanks that was perfect!

I just have three more questions:

1. What color does the nib seem most like, a silvery or a black (it's a little hard to tell in the video)?

2. If you've used a Sonnet before how does this one compare?

3. What was the nib size used in the video?

Thanks again!

Hello all!

I'm going to Minneapolis this week to get my Parker Premier Black Edition! Very excited!

I'm planning in either writing a review or filming one!

Thanks for your comments!

The nib is shiny (very) dark grey-black. If you have ever tried a Waterman Kultur, you already know how it writes. It has the same feed and the same nib (except the Premier's is in gold).

Very smooth nib, you just have to pay extra care to two things :

- the clip : mine was "dancing" when I bought it. It wasn't rigid enough, and it can be a problem. Initially, it was a problem of fixing properly the clip to the cap.

Parker have solved the problem, but if the shop you go to has an old version, check it thoroughly.

- the ink flow: mine was skipping a lot. Really. I solved the problem by changing the feed for the Kultur's feed I had. Now it's perfect. As my Kultur demonstrator cost me 7€, it's still a better deal than waiting several weeks for a replacement from Parker.

Quick question, when did you get yours, and when (roughly) did Parker fix the problem?

The shop I'm going to is a Parker Authorized Retailer...Paradise Pen Company.

I got mine in december 2010. The problem was solved shortly afterward, due to a large amount of returns. But that doesn't mean the one you will try is not concerned, if you are the only customer interested in this pen, in this shop, for a long while (who knows).

All right thanks! I'll be sure to double check...

It's pretty obvious right? Like I'll get it and it will either wobble or it won't...?

Yes indeed, it would behave the same way as if two pieces of metal weren't tightly screwed together. So not completely loose, but quite wobbling when touched.

I, too, have a Parker Premier Special Edition (Monochrome) Black pen, with an F nib, and for me it is as described in terms of color, particularly the nib; as far as having writing issues with the pen, I did when I used Parker Quink permanent black ink, but much less so when using Parker washable black ink (which only seems to be available--at least here in the US--from online seller Montgomery Pens, who carry it in both bottles and cartridges, at fairly reasonable prices [unless you live overseas, of course, especially with the new USPS shipping rates that just went into effect]); by the way, those are the only inks I have ever used in any of my Parker pens, so I can't tell you how any other colors or inks would work with this pen.

I gave my better half the ballpoint. The finish is phenomenal. It is lighter than shown in the stock photos, and it has more texture.
