Have You Ever Left A Pen In Your Laundry?

No, and probably won't anytime in the future. I'm very, very good about not losing things. Misplacing, though...Yeah.

But my watch (I get a new watch like...every 12 years, just a $20 digital thing. Bands ALWAYS break off) has seen the washer so many times, whenever I can't find it, it's always in the washer. And frequently bits of Mars plastic erasers.

They always come out very clean.

Accidentally left my Sailor 1911 Profit (daily work pen) in my shirt pocket and it went thru the washer loaded with ESSRI (a blue black iron gaul permanent ink) .... luckily the pen came through like a champ  ~ no scratches, no moisture inside the pen, the lid remained in place, and no ink leakage! Boy, I was in luck that day.

Nope, never. But I *have* had other things go through the wash in my pockets, just not a fountain pen.

Yep. I've had pens, watches, coins, pocket knives, receipts, glasses, small pets (kidding), etc…

I'm pretty obsessive about checking pockets, so I haven't had anything go through the wash! I feel kind of deprived though, because I never have any interesting stories to share when the topic comes up

tandaina, have you tried it *vertically*? (ie, tip or cap pointing towards your shoes, instead of to the left/right)? Unless you're very petite or wearing jeans with no real pockets, it should work. It's what I do when I'm in jeans. I'll generally clip it right to the outer edge, that way it stays nib upwards as well! Actually, if you're quite small, you would probably be able to do this too as long as you pick a mini pen for that job, then it wouldn't poke a bruise into your leg :P

Other clothes, of course, is a whole 'nother story ;) For that you need Hermione Granger's beaded handbag!

I'm not affiliated with ANY of the brands/retailers/shops/ebay sellers/whatever I mention or recommend. If that ever changes, I will let you know :)

Parker "51" vac, blue diamond, blue cedar, full of Sailor Kiwaguro. Right hand jeans pocket where it spent most of its time. I forgot to check the pockets and it went through a wash and spin cycle at 40 degrees with some Persil and calgon. It survived but the heat undid the shellac and the hood came loose afterward. Luckily the cap stayed tightly on the pen, which probably saved it from destruction. The blue diamond didn't make it!

I remember when I put a cheap zebra metal click pen in my jeans washed then put it in dryer. SO after all that, I folded the jeans and felt something. Naturally I reached in the pocket.

well yeah, Burned fingers!

Im glad it was not my white Pelikan M205 or M400. For sure, I'd be horrified if it got all 'welded' shut!

Of course. While I no longer recall which pen it was, I do remember that it survived.

Nope. But I have forgotten to check for a tissue... more than once. I HATE WHEN THAT HAPPENS!

Oy, the mess. Shreds of tissue on everything. When will I learn?

Know the feeling!

It seems I've yet to learn not to leave kleenex tissues in my pockets... Still happens regularly.

Never a pen. Nor my Swiss penknife, or coins or paper money. Sometimes receipts.

I have forgotten to pack my small Swiss penknife in my luggage when boarding a plane. Lost a few of them that way. Last time it happened was when I flew to Geneva. Gave me an excuse to visit the flagship store there, to admire the display, and buy a new one, which I still have.

Generally if I carry a pen on me it's in the inside of a jacket, suit jacket, or coat pocket and when I get home I always take everything out of all my pockets. I remember when I was younger leaving kleenex in the pocket when my clothes went through the wash and that was a nightmare. Ever since then I always check my pockets before putting any clothes into the hamper so nothing bad happens.
