ETA: I have no idea how that emoticon got in there, I've tried to edit it out without success.

Put a space between the B and the end parenthesis

Has anyone tried one of those Mieux brand knock-offs? I see them pop up here and there, and while the quality & design looks lower, it's still in the ballpark.

Got the emoticon out! THANKS!

No, I haven't seen or tried any of the knockoffs.

Just got the Mieux into my office, and I have lots to say. First of all, this pen is made by Hero. Other than there is no branding and the squeeze bar having Mieux branding, the entire section is identical to the Hero 850 and Hero 849. It has an fixed Aeromatic Filler. And the body shape is different from a Hero 850 and Hero 849. (I own 2 of each)

I have my eye on a red Murex that I am going to try and win. I had one before, sold it and miss it a lot.

It's a beauty as are most all of them

I have received the m90 and I LOVE it!

But, when I got to feel the incrediable smoothness of the m90 I realized that my Lamy is a tiny bit scratchy! Anything I can do to make it a little bit smoother?

I also would like to know what nib I have on my Lamy. I think the seller said F, but I am not sure... anyway I can see what it is?

Thanks

Do you have a loupe or a good magnifying glass? Kill two birds with 1 look: make sure the tines/tips of the Lamy nib are aligned - you have to rotate the nib around to look at the tips from every angle straight on and from both sides - and look to see if there is any roughness on the blob that is the tipping; now go to the back of the nib and look below the Lamy printed there and you will see 1 or 2 letters - that will tell you the size/grade it is supposed to be (XF, F, M, B ). Actually, the last part you really don't need magnification, the printing should be large enough to see clearly. If the tines are not aligned, should be an easy finger fix.

If the tips of the tines are aligned, you may want to try to do the brown paper bag thing.

I used a microscope (unfortunately the camera didn't work at the time) but found no inscriptions at all!?

Back to the issue of the size of the nib on your Lamy: seems you have an old nib. I took out my oldest nibed Safari and it is indeed unmarked. The more recent nibs are clearly marked. Guess you will have to guess...

You could post on the Lamy subforum and see if anyone there has any better ideas...that is if we only had a Lamy subforum...

Not a whole lot of experience with the Falcon 50, but I think it's a pretty decent pen. Just my opinion here, but I think it harkens from that era where Parker was looking to do something with a little more "pizzazz" than what the hooded nib pens might offer, but something that might be distinctively "Parker".

The thin barrel profile might be an issue, but I think a pretty nice writer for those not looking for a wide barrel writer.

Nice pen.

Thanks, I hope I will like the parker. The myu is quite thin as well, but maybe not as thin?

Anyway, ehemem, How old can the nib be on my Lamy 2000 (it's a stainless steel)? I thought it was a relatively new model.

OOOPS, my bad. Talking apples and oranges here. I had Lamy Safari nibs in mind, not Lamy 2000s! I haven't any idea about 2000 nibs, except that they're not stainless steel, but plated gold, and the model has been around since the 70s IIRC.

Ah, alright. And I meant that the pen itself is stainless steel (I mentioned that because I thought it is a relatively new model). The seller did carefully emphasize the gold plated nib.

I am lucky to own a 2 M90s with M nibs, and I must say they are wonderful pens.

Though they are simply museum pieces which I have NEVER used. HAHAHA! :bunny01:
