cross-compatible cartridges

I love my Cross pens -- but I hate it that Cross only makes blue and black ink cartridges (which I use now for traveling). Does any other company make Cross-compatible carts in other colors?

So does BIC which now owns the 'S' trademark and what is left of the company.

 

Also I believe Pilot uses a proprietary cartridge design.

 

AIR, Pendemonium has a what fits what somewhere in the ink section. But that is no joy if you want to use green ink (for example) and travel with the handyness of cartridges for your Cross pen.

I just carry a bottle of ink and a few wipes. I've been known to sit in a bathroom stall and fill a beloved pen (which happened to be a Cross)... Hey, ya gotta do what ya gotta do!

How do you do the filling? Do you use a converter or syringe or some other method?

The Century II uses a converter that has a translucent orange barrel; the converter screws into the section and won't fall out. [Nice in the bathroom!] I rest the open bottle on something firm, submerge the nib, and turn the converter until ink is drawn up into the pen. Replace the cap, wipe, close the bottle, and you're done.
