How Many Pens Do You Own Vs. How Many Are Always Inked?

So I just noticed this...

I have easily 40-50 pens, most of them vintage. As my pens generally ride in my bag and get tossed around when I'm on the subway, I tend to only carry and use my modern pens (4-5) and a Parker 51 (because I'd totally feel guilty for accidentally killing off a candy stripe Conway Stewart No 58 with stub nib in blue marble)

So 5/50 pens, thats 10%

I do write with my others, just not as much, as they do not leave my house

Right now I have 125 fountain pens and keep around 5 inked at any one time. So 4% inked.

12 permanently inked and 1 invited that stays in use until the ink is depleted, back to storage and another is invited.

A moderate number but usually two inked, sometimes as many as four so I feel confident it is 1-2% inked at any given time.

Actually, I'm trying to cut down on the number of pens I have. I have approx. 200 pens but typically only ink 1 at a time...

At the moment there are only a few un-inked:

1) Parker Vector

2) Noodler's Flex Piston

3) Pilot Preppy Highlighter pen

4) Esterbrook SJ (which I haven't gotten around to see whether it really does need a new sac -- I have all the parts and supplies, I just need a time when I'm not completely stressed out, and can concentrate on dealing with the pen with no distractions...)

5) Kaweco (?) brush pen (the ones that come with the 4.5 oz bottles of Noodler's KTC)

[6] Another Varsity that I'm not sure whether is actually empty or just clogged somehow (again, it's a case of wanting to have a free block of time to futz with the pen...)

 

So, about 70% inked vs. non-inked at the moment. But that's going to change soon since I was given a couple of left-over samples from someone's Inkdrop at a pen meeting tonight, and I think I have a couple that may need to be cleaned out and/or refilled.

Currently about 60 pens, but maybe 20 are inked so about third inked... got a little crazy trying ink samples, and am trying to write them out. Thinking about reducing the number of pens, but can't decide what to part with... at least have promised myself I won't buy any more pens until I reduce the total a bit. Will have to see how long the promise lasts this time. :roflmho:

Neither of those numbers includes various disposable FPs, Preppies, and Plumixes (Plumices?) floating around.

Counting the cheapies like the Hero 616s, there are around 100+ pens here. At any given time only 4 or 5 of them are inked. So, say around 5%

200 or so pens, mostly inked. So 90%+ inked. I do need to sort out a Rotation with some pens cleaned out and "resting" but I like to use a lot of them, a lot of the time!!
