How Do You "rest" Your Inked Pens?

Pen rests

  1. 1. Do you prefer horizontal or vertical pen rests?

Depends on the pen. Lamy Logo? Nib up in a well padded case/backpack unless you want to see a mess of ink. Hero 7022? Doesn't seem to care about its position. It just starts immediately, nib up, down, flat, shaken, or stirred.

Calculating.

I have two silk lined boxes that came with Aurora pens and they hold all 17 of my pens. When my new 90 Aurora Optima Auroloide- Cardinal Red arrives later this week I will have another silk lined box. All my pens lie horizontally except when I carry them in a shirt pocket, then they are held by the clip nib up. I have never that I can recall had a hard start except with a pen or two that had feed problems in the first place.

I have a couple of toothbrush holders (one chrome, the other brushed aluminum) that I use to place my pocket pens when not in-pocket. I keep one in the bedroom and the other in the kitchen. I also have a deskpen inked at any given time, which is pretty much "vertical" by default.

I've always got a few pens on my desk sitting horizontal inked up. they sit for a couple days sometimes without use, however i've never had any trouble with them starting up from this position.

Started to say flat but the pen trays that I bought at a pen show have a very slight slope, so the pens rest almost horizontal but the nib end is slightly tilted up.

Pens will usually rest flat on my desk, but when I carry them in my backpack I'll point the nib up.

I HAVE FOUND THAT HAVING THE PEN IN A VERTICAL POSITION WITH THE NIB DOWN HAS WORK BETTER FOR ME. ALSO, FROM TIME TO TIME I MIGHT HAVE THEM LAYING DOWN FLAT ON MY DESK, BUT NO LONGER THAN 1-2 DAYS.

I made a special canopy bed with special pillows so that I can tuck in my pens for their naps. I have a little plate of graham crackers on the little nightstand waiting for them when they awake.

It's because I care.

Each of my few pens resides in its own Pelikan single-pen case.

When inked, the pens (in cases) stand (nib up) in a glass vase on my desk. When at rest, the pen cases are stacked horizontally in a Rubbermaid clam-shell box.

Usually four are in use & four at rest.

I made a set of trays with a vertical frame to hold them at precisely 15 degrees from horizontal, nib up. No idea what benefit this has other than for me to look at them more easily. When they're empty I flip them around so I remember which ones need filling.
