Advice On Removing A Jinhao Nib

Chrissy

Recommended Posts

I know they aren't expensive but I have a nice Jinhao pen and I would like to replace it's nib.

The snag is that I can't get the original nib out of the feed.

Is it possible? If so please advise how to do it. Thanks

I cannot speak to all Jinhao fountain pens. I have the

x750 and x450. The nibs to these two simply "pull" out.

Just grasp the feed and nib with thumb and index finger,

and pull straight out. (A rubber band or rubber glove might

aid in the grip.) Align and insert to re-install.

I don't know the purpose of the small pin at the back end

of the feed. There seem to be no difference in function

between the pen with it intact and the pen with it lost.

Warm the section/nib/feed, then wiggle the nib and feed out. Sometimes the nib comes out first, then the feed just falls out.

On replacing, some feeds are D-shaped and go in one way up only - others are round so it's worth rotating the nib/feed in the section until it drops into place, then push home - having warmed the unit first, of course.
