Need Help On An Old Waterman Pen

Basically the description is the following

WATERMAN'S IDEAL "STAR" N.Y. 2 NIB

WATERMAN'S IDEAL FOUNTAIN PEN. N.Y PAT'D FEB. 12 & NOV. 4. 1884

PAT'D MAY 24, 1898

Waterman's #12 eyedropper HBR

It looks to be in pretty good shape and such. But honestly I tried search for information on it and couldn't find much.

It looks like it has a 13 on the top of the cap barrel, which from what I gathered from david Nishimura's site. Its an eyedropper and a size 3 nib -> My fountain pen knowledge is low as I only have a Vanishing point that I love dearly :S its my baby. Anyways.

Other than that I need some help :(. I might just bring a set of my own Noodler's ink to test out the pen if the seller decides to respond to my email in due time.

Hello,

I don't know much about this pen but this is what I can say about it.

This kind of eyedropper pen is one of the easiest and simpliest filling system : the body of the pen is the cartridge : you need to unscrew the section of the pen to fill directly in the ink in the body :

I can't read the number on the bottom of the pen but you mentionned a "13" : I'm a bit puzzled, as the nib mentions a "2" size, it should be a "12" eyedropper... The nib seems to be the genuine one, and quite an uncommon one, as the "WATERMAN" word is written in half circle and has the star on it.

Sorry, this is not very helpfull I'm afraid...

I could be wrong about the 3. Look more closely it might look like a 2 DX. my EYES WHERE HAVE THEY GONE. But anyways I think I might just meet up with the seller and jump at it.

Thanks for the responses and clearing up that my eyes are just shot >< LOL.

Look carefully at the tip of the nib since the seller cut that off in the picture. It might be bad photography or it might be a bad nib. Also, flip the nib over and make sure the tip still has shiny white spot.

So I got the pen. Not sure if I did good or not. Got it for 70 usd.

But after I left, I went to my car. I noticed that the tip of the nib is kinda off. Its like cut for an italicized effect or something no idea.

Iuno It writes cleanly with my noodler's heart of darkness. I feel like I could have done better. :/

Resized because too large :D
